  • Course blends academic learning with real-world financial tools and industry exposure

The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM Bangalore) has launched a new Certificate Programme in Personal Finance and Wealth Advisory to address the growing need for skilled financial advisors in India. The program is offered in partnership with FPSB India, the Indian arm of the global Financial Planning Standards Board, and is part of IIM Bangalore’s Executive Education portfolio.

FPSB India has formally accredited the program. Registrations are now open, and the academic session will begin in March 2026. The course will be delivered through IIM Bangalore’s Centre for Capital Markets and Risk Management.

According to IIM Bangalore, rising retail participation in financial markets and the increasing complexity of financial products have created strong demand for structured and credible education in personal finance. The new certificate program aims to prepare professionals to meet this demand with industry-relevant skills.

The curriculum combines theory with hands-on application. It covers areas such as microeconomics, business decision-making, and modern wealth advisory practices. Participants will also gain exposure to real-world financial analysis by working with market tools and data platforms.

Senior faculty members from IIM Bangalore, representatives from FPSB India, and members of the Council of Financial Planners attended the program launch. FPSB India confirmed the accreditation during the event.

Dr. Aishwarya Krishna, Research Consultant at the Centre for Capital Markets and Risk Management, said the program reflects current industry needs shaped by regulatory changes, market volatility, and rising demand for professional financial advice.

On successful completion, participants will receive IIM Bangalore Executive Education alumni status. Eligible candidates may also qualify for an accelerated pathway toward the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER (CFP) certification, subject to FPSB India’s norms.

FPSB India said the collaboration supports its broader mission to strengthen financial planning education and improve career outcomes for finance professionals across India.
