Icon was founded in 2005 by two civil engineers, Sunil Tyagi and Mukul Tyagi, together with their wives Abha Tyagi and Babita Tyagi. They started the preschool with a vision to create a place where children are cared for with love while receiving quality early education. The idea was born from the founders’ understanding of the challenges faced by working parents.

In the early days, they noticed a hungry child crying, and their decision to provide freshly cooked, healthy meals at school came from that moment of empathy. What began as a small gesture of kindness grew into the core philosophy, which is to nurture every child with warmth, respect and understanding, while helping parents feel supported and at peace.

An ISO 9001:2015 certified organization, Icon provides holistic child development, emphasizing intellectual, emotional, social, and physical growth. Its innovative, thematic, and skill-based curriculum integrates academics with life values such as gratitude, sharing, and empathy. Designed around 21st-century learning skills, including critical thinking, communication, creativity, and emotional intelligence, it also incorporates art, music, and technology to stimulate curiosity and exploration.

Icon offers a structured learning pathway through four programs, Pre-Scholar, Scholar 1, Scholar 2, and Scholar 3, catering to children aged 1.5 to 5.5 years. Each stage encourages imagination, coordination, and scientific thinking, preparing children for primary education with confidence. The school’s distinctive ‘Welcome Activity’ helps address separation anxiety, ensuring a joyful start to each day. Additionally, experiences like blessing assemblies, night camps, and summer programs promote independence, teamwork, and cultural learning. Over two decades, the preschool has been home to countless stories of transformation. “One memorable example comes from the recently opened Ghaziabad branch, where twin siblings who were undergoing multiple therapy sessions each day found remarkable improvement after joining the preschool.

Their mother, managing alone while her husband worked abroad, tearfully expressed how the preschool’s nurturing environment restored her children’s happiness and confidence, calling it the ‘best gift’ she could have received”, adds Mukul Tyagi, CoFounder & Director, Icon Nurturing Innocence.

Another moving story is that of the founder’s niece, who once battled depression and uncertainty about her future. Encouraged by preschool’s vision, she opened her own preschool under the brand’s franchise in Gurgaon.Today, she is a proud mother, wife, and successful entrepreneur running a thriving school, paying substantial rent for her property, and even planning to purchase her own premises.

Among its earliest students was Megha Chaudhary, a young girl who attended Icon’s skill development sessions designed to help children explore different fields. Inspired by the school’s creative environment, Megha discovered her passion for storytelling and eventually became an acclaimed scriptwriter for Bollywood and international films. Each of these stories embodies the soul of Icon, a place where innocence grows into brilliance.

The Way Ahead

Icon has been recognized with 14 prestigious awards since its inception. Among its notable achievements, the preschool has been ranked among the Top 100 Preschools in India by Brainfeed Magazine (2018), honored as the Best Smart Play School Chain by XEL Research, and awarded the Best Play School in Delhi/NCR by the Right Choice Awards (2016).
