Regardless of age, nothing makes a birthday perfect like a home-cooked birthday cake from your mother. Dipti Harshad Vartak (Founder, Dipti Vartak Academy) has always dreamed of baking a special cake from scratch for her child's first birthday. But when the day came, the cake didn’t turn out as planned.

Not only did the cream melt, but cracks appeared to ruin the cake and her long-cherished dream along with it. However, at that moment, though difficult, something changed in her. Determined not to feel that way ever again, Dipti decided to learn everything she could about baking. What started as a determination to bake a better cake for her child grew into a love for entrepreneurship and teaching.

She left her nine-to-five job, built a successful home-baking business, and started Vartak Academy (DVA), an online platform dedicated to helping individuals, primarily women, launch and grow profitable home bakeries. Today, her journey inspires many aspiring bakers, demonstrating that even small setbacks can lead to significant changes.

Dipti’s amazing journey of becoming one of the globally renowned, award-winning bakery business coaches was not devoid of challenges. Having had a humble beginning by conducting offline baking classes at her home, the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns placed a temporary lid on offline classes. However, the orders continued

flow in, and in fact, increased exponentially as people preferred home-baked items. This led Dipti to rethink her approach. She elucidates, “The pandemic forced me to rethink my approach. I decided to move the business online, marking the start of my online coaching journey. This new approach, leveraging the latest digital tools, not only allowed me to continue teaching but also enabled me to scale the impact significantly”.

Dipti’s passionate approach toward coaching became an instant hit, reaching a thriving community of students across 14 countries and making baking education more accessible, interactive, and outcome-based.

She credits her transformation to the "three Cs": making bold choices, seizing new chances, and embracing the changes that followed—steps she believes can completely alter the course of anyone’s life.

The Path Toward Becoming a DVA Super Baker
DVA today is built to do more than just teach baking. What truly sets DVA apart is not just its recipes but its mentorship-based approach, strong community-driven learning, and the deep personal transformation it fosters beyond skill-building. Together, these pillars ensure that every learner’s journey is as enriching personally as it is professionally—not just knowledge transfer.

Moreover, Dipti has designed her programs to help students create sustainable businesses from home. The program kicks off with a webinar, where potential students can get a glimpse of the teaching style and content to decide if DVA fits their needs. The Super Baker Program goes beyond the basics of baking to teach students how to bake, decorate, and market their products, equipping them with the skills to start their own home bakery.

The curriculum also includes professional techniques, branding, marketing, and business setup advice, all designed to help students price and promote their bakery products with confidence.

The Super Baker Program is just the tip of the iceberg. For aspiring bakers who wish to deepen their expertise and expand their businesses, DVA has designed the Diamond Certification Program.
This advanced program focuses on mentorship, business audits, and accountability, providing personalized support for students. For instance, DVA assists students in mastering more complex recipes, advanced decoration techniques, and sophisticated marketing strategies.

On the other hand, the Diamond Certification Program will also help small-time bakery owners looking to refine their menus and scale their operations, with a strong emphasis on mentorship-driven learning. “We have an approach that also addresses mindset and confidence, helping our students overcome self-doubt and negative beliefs about entrepreneurship. DVA’s philosophy is centered on transforming passion into purpose and purpose into success, creating a holistic platform for both skill development and business growth”.

A Learning Experience That Makes a Difference
Something that complements this well-defined approach is the way DVA leverages technology. “I'm an engineer at heart, with an MBA to complement my journey. It’s fair to say that this engineering mindset drives me. I've always believed that while technology is essential, its true power is unlocked when paired with the right intent to serve. When purpose meets innovation, the impact on society can be transformative”.

Piloting a mission to deliver world-class baking education beyond boundaries, DVA has partnered with a trusted thirdparty LMS provider, tailoring the platform with specific inputs to meet its unique vision. This customized system enables students to access structured, step-by-step courses at any time, from anywhere. The app is OTP-based and number-verified, ensuring a secure and personalized experience. Recognizing that not everyone uses laptops, DVA has also introduced a mobile app to make learning even more accessible. This techenabled approach has made baking education not just reachable, but engaging and outcomeoriented.

Additionally, DVA has gamified the entire learning experience—assignments, course progression, and photo sharing so that learners are excited to return, participate, and grow. On the other hand, to reach learners globally, DVA also leverages both organic and performance-driven digital marketing across platforms like YouTube, Instagram, Meta, and Google. “At DVA, technology is not just a tool — it’s a bridge that connects purpose with possibility. From our secure learning platform to the DVA mobile app, every innovation is designed to make learning flexible, personal, and result-oriented”, adds Dipti.

Dipti’s journey has always been rooted in growth— both personal and collective. She believes that her students’ success is the truest reflection of her own

While this combined approach ensures that DVA graduates are business-ready, Dipti believes that baking is not just about business—a belief cemented by countless moving stories she has experienced firsthand over the past few years. One of the most moving stories from the DVA community is that of Kavya, a school principal from Hyderabad. She had recently lost her five-year-old daughter, Vaishnavi, and was struggling with unimaginable grief. In the midst of her pain, she came across one of Dipti’s Facebook posts about starting a bakery business.

Drawn to the energy of the webinar, she joined the Super Baker program. Within three months, she began baking again—not just as a skill, but as a way to reconnect with her daughter. Dipti says, “During our virtual graduation ceremony, Kavya shared that she felt her child’s presence through the journey, saying, 'Dipti, you are my angel’. She went on to launch her home bakery, naming it Vaishnavi’s Delight, and now uses her earnings to support the education of homeless children, even adopting two herself”.

Dipti adjoins, “Her story moved my husband deeply, inspiring him to leave his role as a VP at a reputed bank and join me in this mission full-time. Together, we’re committed to helping more women transform their lives through baking. Stories like these remind me that baking is not just a business — it is a medium of healing, expression, and empowerment”.

En Route to the Future
Dipti’s journey has always been rooted in growth— both personal and collective. She believes that her students’ success is the truest reflection of her own. Every milestone they achieve fuels her drive to do more, to give more, and to create deeper impact. Her mission is not just about teaching baking; it’s about transforming lives and constantly adding more value to her students’ lives, their businesses, and their families.

Looking ahead, Dipti envisions writing another book and hosting immersive offline retreats that go beyond baking. These retreats will focus on building confidence, courage, clarity, and purpose—helping women discover why they’re pursuing entrepreneurship in the first place. One of her most passionate visions is to establish a physical space: a baking therapy studio where women can heal, create, and become financially independent through the art of baking. Going forward, she is driving toward her ultimate goal of empowering more women through DVA, spreading joy and transformation in every corner of the world. Dipti envisions seeing every DVA student become confident and financially independent, and spreading happiness through baking.
