  • AICTE and BSNL signed an MoU to integrate industry-relevant skills into India’s technical education, focusing on next-gen communications, 5G/6G, and cybersecurity.
  • The alliance will enable faculty development, student training, research, and access to BSNL’s nationwide telecom infrastructure for hands-on learning.
  • The partnership aims to bridge the gap between theory and practice, preparing a future-ready workforce aligned with Industry 5.0 and global standards.

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) have entered into a strategic alliance in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding, which is a major step towards revolutionizing technical education and skill development in India. The agreement was signed by Acting Member Secretary of AICTE, Dr. More Ramulu, and Senior General Manager at BSNL, Samita Luthra, in the presence of Chairman of AICTE, Prof. T. G. Sitharam, and senior officials from both organizations.

The partnership combines AICTE's position as India's highest technical education body with BSNL's three decades of experience as a telecom service provider with infrastructural presence throughout the nation, particularly in telecom, IT, networking, and management. Through this partnership, both the companies wish to develop a future-ready workforce ready to face global industry requirements.

Prof. Sitharam underscored the strategic significance of the partnership, citing that it is aimed at delivering industry-relevant education and preparing a skilled talent pool for cutting-edge industries like next-generation communications, 5G and 6G mobile services, and cybersecurity. He emphasized AICTE's focus on strengthening its ecosystem by upskilling its faculty and physically involving students with state-of-the-art technology.

BSNL's Samita Luthra seconded this view, observing that the alliance demonstrates a common vision to transform technical education to be more vibrant, inclusive, and responsive to evolving industry requirements. BSNL contributes its vast experience and infrastructure in cutting-edge skill development, and AICTE brings its vast academic reach. They will bring real-world skills to institutionalised programmes with a view to scalable and globally benchmarked education.

The deal involves cooperation on a wide variety of programmes such as faculty development programmes, student training programmes, institutional building, research initiatives, and pilot programmes. BSNL has committed to being a training partner for AICTE-approved institutions, providing educators and learners with access to its infrastructure and facilities throughout India.

By filling the gap between industry practice and theory, this MoU is a pioneering step in bringing India's technical education in line with international competitiveness. It places AICTE's academic structure in a position to avail itself of BSNL's technological infrastructure, assuring practical learning backed by actual techno-ecosystems.

This partnership reflects India's larger agenda to enhance its technical cadres in tandem with accelerated developments in communications and digital technologies so that graduates become ready for the changing needs of Industry 5.0 and beyond.
