Odisha Government signed MoU for establishment of NMIMS university

The Odisha government has signed an MoU with SVKM Trust to establish NMIMS University in Bhubaneswar. With a 40-acre land allocation, the university aims to enhance higher education in the state. The MoU is worth Rs 300 crore and is a significant stride towards developing education in Odisha.

During a ceremony held at the Lok Seva Bhawan, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formalized with the presence of Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, the Minister of Higher Education, and other guests. As part of this historic agreement, the Odisha government has agreed to provide 40 acres of land on lease in Goudakashipur, Jatni, Bhubaneswar for the establishment of a university.

The land that has been allocated comes with certain benefits that are provided without any extra charges. The registration of the land is also free for a period of 30 years, which can be extended for another 30 years. Moreover, in an official release, it has been stated that the land is exempt from IDCO's annual maintenance charges.

Expressing the magnitude of this partnership with SVKM, the Minister of Higher Education highlighted its profound impact on the state, especially within the Higher Education Department. Emphasizing a steadfast commitment to enhancing education, fostering growth, and cultivating a brighter future, the collaboration epitomizes their dedication to educational advancement.

The Minister highlighted the significant potential of this collaboration, which aims to expand educational opportunities in Odisha. The initiative involves establishing a premier educational campus near the revered temple city of Odisha. It aims to cater to diverse academic needs while closely aligning with the state's commitment to enhancing the quality of higher education.
