• Uzbekistan offers major investment opportunities for Indian businesses in pharma, agriculture, IT, logistics, and education, backed by its strategic location and favorable economic climate.

The Indo-Uzbek Education & Business Summit 2025 held in New Delhi drew attention to the growing educational and economic ties between India and Uzbekistan. Ambassador Sardor Rustambaev informed that over 10,000 Indian students are already pursuing medical education in Uzbekistan and constitute the largest group of foreign students there.

Six-year MD courses with a year of internship and 100 percent English-medium instruction are offered by the medical universities of Uzbekistan. Clinical practice is carried out in government hospitals, and medical licensure after graduating. These courses have gained popularity among Indian students due to their affordability and quality. For instance, the Samarkand State Medical University, which used to receive between 100 and 150 Indian students annually before, received over 3,000 Indian students in 2023, including over 1,000 who were evacuated from Ukraine.

The meet also hosted representatives from leading Uzbek institutions such as Samarkand State Medical University, Bukhara State Medical Institute, Namangan Medical Institute, Turon University, Andijan State Medical Institute, and the Journalism and Mass Communications University of Uzbekistan. Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between these institutions and their Indian counterparts to set the foundation for collaborative research, student exchange, and collaborative training programs.

Besides education, Uzbekistan is emerging as a perfect destination for Indian entrepreneurs to invest in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, agriculture and food processing, education and skill development, infrastructure, IT, and logistics. Due to the strategic location of the country, its growing economy, and favorable climate for investment, there are numerous opportunities for joint activity between the two countries.
