IIT Delhi's Abu Dhabi campus is working to attract students from Southeast Asia, including Singapore and Malaysia, while also leveraging the Indian diaspora to raise awareness about IITs, according to a senior official.

Dr. Shantanu Roy, the Executive Director of the IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi campus, shared that the campus has made significant progress in its first year. The campus has launched undergraduate programs in computer science and energy engineering, as well as a master's program in energy transition and sustainability, and a Ph.D. program focused on energy and sustainability. These initiatives reflect the campus's commitment to providing world-class education in key fields.

Located in Khalifa City, the campus was officially inaugurated on September 2, 2024, following an agreement between India and the UAE. The UAE government provides funding for the campus, while IIT Delhi contributes its academic and research expertise. This collaboration marks a significant step in strengthening educational and research ties between the two countries.

The establishment of the IIT Delhi campus in Abu Dhabi aligns with the UAE's Vision 2050, which focuses on advancing technology and innovation in critical areas such as energy, sustainability, space, and water resources. By offering cutting-edge programs in energy and sustainability, the campus plays an essential role in supporting the UAE’s long-term goals for innovation and development in these fields.

Dr. Roy emphasized that the campus aims to become a hub for global talent and research, fostering collaboration between India, the UAE, and other countries in the region. The expansion of IIT Delhi’s presence in Abu Dhabi signals a new era of academic and research excellence in the Gulf region, making it a key player in global education and innovation.
