Arizona State University is collaborating with Rajalakshmi Engineering College in Chennai to further advance access to degrees and courses available for students at that location, officials said yesterday. ASU plans to create new undergraduate degree and Master's programs at a significant level including key areas, like computer science, engineering and business and management.

ASU President Michael M. Crow underscored the importance of the partnership, saying, "With India as our largest source of international students, this partnership with REC strengthens our mission to expand access to exceptional education and empower students with the skills needed to excel in a globalized workforce". India currently contributes the largest number of international students to ASU, with more than 6,600 Indian students enrolled.

The initiative will offer flexible academic pathways, enabling students to earn globally recognized degrees while gaining skills that are essential for international careers. The programs will integrate REC's academic strengths with ASU's world-class expertise, providing students with a competitive edge in the job market.

"This partnership is a major step forward in the development of REC's academic programs", said Abhay Meganathan, Vice Chairman of Rajalakshmi Institutions. "With ASU, we are dedicated to providing transformative learning experiences that combine academic rigor with real-world relevance". REC has a 100-acre campus in Chennai and caters to more than 10,000 students, with a placement rate of 95%.

This alliance will enable REC to join the ASU-Cintana Alliance, a global network of universities across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America. This alliance will provide access to ASU's vast resources and collaborative research opportunities.

President Crow said, "By leveraging our strengths in combination with Cintana's disruptive approaches, we enable universities to improve the quality of academics and spur growth. This collaboration further enhances ASU's global reach and magnifies its impact on Indian students".

The collaboration is expected to change the way global education pathways are shaped for Indian students to have access to world-class learning experiences.
