The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Students’ Union elections for the 2025-26 term are scheduled to take place on November 4, with results expected on November 6, the university’s election committee announced.

The election process will begin on October 24 with the release of the tentative voter list, allowing students to request corrections. Nomination forms will be available on October 25, and candidates can submit their nominations on October 27. A final list of valid candidates will be published on October 28, with a withdrawal window the same day.

Campaigning will officially kick off after a press briefing on October 28, including school-level meetings from October 29 to 31 and a university-wide general body meeting on November 1. The highly anticipated presidential debate will take place on November 2, followed by a ‘No Campaign Day’ on November 3.

Polling will happen in two sessions on election day, from 9 AM to 1 PM and then 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM, with vote counting starting at 9 PM. The final results will be announced on November 6.

To ensure a smooth election, JNU has set up a grievance redressal cell to handle complaints and disputes.

In last year’s elections, Left-backed groups secured three of the four main positions, while the ABVP won the joint secretary post for the first time in nearly a decade.
