Indian Army Partners with DTU to Advance Defence Tech and AI Training

The Indian Army has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Delhi Technological University (DTU) to strengthen research and training in defence technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and cyber security. The partnership aims to integrate military expertise with academic innovation, supporting India’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat in defence.

Announcing the collaboration on X, the Army described it as a major step toward fostering military-civil synergy. The MoU will enable the development of specialized courses and research programs in key areas such as defence technology, robotics, geoinformatics, cyber security, AI, and soldier upskilling.

Through this initiative, the Army seeks to create a future-ready, technologically empowered force equipped to handle modern warfare challenges. The move is part of India’s broader 'Decade of Transformation', focusing on innovation-driven national security.

In a related development, the Ministry of Defence signed a Rs 659.47 crore contract for the procurement of advanced Night Sights for SIG 716 assault rifles. Classified under the Buy (Indian-IDDM) category, the project includes over 51% indigenous content, marking a strong push for local manufacturing and MSME participation.

The new Night Sights will significantly improve soldiers’ ability to engage targets at night, offering precision up to 500 meters even under low-light conditions.
