IIM Lucknow and IIT Kanpur Launch Healthcare Management Program

In a significant move to enhance healthcare leadership, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur have announced a joint postgraduate program in Healthcare Management. This initiative aims to blend management principles with advanced medical technology, addressing the increasing demand for skilled professionals in the healthcare sector.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Professor Archana Shukla, Director of IIM Lucknow, and Professor Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur. During the signing ceremony, Prof. Shukla expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating, “We are thrilled to partner with IIT Kanpur to bring forth a program that combines the strengths of management and technology in addressing the complex challenges of the healthcare sector”. She emphasized that the programme would foster innovative solutions to improve healthcare management both in India and globally.

Targeting professionals from diverse backgrounds, including healthcare workers and doctors in public hospitals, the PGP in Healthcare Management will be integral to the Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology initiative at IIT Kanpur. Prof. Agrawal highlighted the programme's importance, noting, “By leveraging the strengths of both institutions, we are positioning our graduates to address the pressing challenges of healthcare with a holistic and forward-looking approach”.

The joint programme will closely collaborate with IIT Kanpur's Centre of Excellence in Digital Health, partnering with international institutions vital to India’s healthcare landscape. IIM Lucknow anticipates that this partnership will significantly enhance healthcare management education and research, preparing professionals to contribute to a more robust and innovative healthcare system in the country.
