
Delhi Govt Grants Rs 417 Cr to DU, Rolls Out New Education Schemes

The New Delhi government has released a grant-in-aid of Rs 417 crore to 12 fully state-funded Delhi University colleges. This funding aims to address financial challenges faced by these institutions, ensuring timely salaries and operational support.
These colleges are receiving this grant Acharya Narendra Dev College, Aditi Mahavidyalaya, Bhagini Nivedita College, Bhaskaracharya College, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Kesh and Shaheed Sukhdev.
Addressing a press conference, Education Minister Ashish Sood stated, "The last government didn't disburse grants to DU wherein students of middle-class family study. But we disbursed the money on April 1".
Under its educational reforms, the Delhi government is going to set up 75 CM Shri Schools, and data science classes. A special budget of Rs 100 crore has been kept aside for initiative.
These futuristic schools will seek to equip advanced facilities such as AR/VR, and data science so that students can get quality education that rivals private schools.
Besides, 100 language labs of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Language Labs will be established to teach languages other than the mother tongue like English, French, and German. Additionally, 250 government schools will be installed with digital libraries to improve learning material.
Additionally, more than 1,300 students of universities have been given scholarships under a special scheme run by the Delhi government in an attempt to provide aid to students from economically weaker sections.
The scheme, operated by the Directorate of Higher Education, seeks to help meritorious students achieve higher education without worrying about costs. Sood underlined the need to invest in students, adding that nurturing them is a national priority.
Under the CM Digital Education Scheme, 1,200 students have been equipped with laptops for digital learning. Free coaching for competitive examinations such as JEE, NEET, and CUET has also been started by the government for providing equal opportunities for all students.
