Speaking of which, MIT Vishwashanti Gurukul School was born out of a vision of a concerned educator Revered Prof. (Dr.) Vishwanath D. Karad. This is the brainchild of the visionary and creator who expressed his dream to improve the contemporary situation of Maharashtra and felt the need to institute the first-ever private engineering college of Maharashtra by the name of Maharashtra Institute of Technology. This first step towards building a better future for the state and the country eventually turned into a long journey that manifests now in the form of about 75 institutions including schools, colleges, universities, and hospitals.
VGS (Vishwashanti Gurukul School) - An IB World School is committed to providing a world-class education to students aged 3 to 19 years. VGS is affiliated with the International Baccalaureate Organization - Geneva to offer three academic programmes: PYP (Primary Years Programme), MYP (Middle Years Programme), and DP (Diploma Programme). School's vision is to foster a love for learning and build a learning community of motivated students with the staff engaged in realizing the children's full human potential. The school aims to make the students proud of their deep-rooted ethos and ancient Indian culture while educating them in the most modern methodologies.
Vishwashanti Gurukul (IB World School) maintains a high level of quality of teachers through ongoing professional development along with a very focused teacher-student ratio (1:10) throughout the school, provides for all resources to enhance the learning experiences, organizes outbound experiential learning opportunities, trains the students in focussed goal setting and tracking
mechanisms and manages a robust feedback system for all stakeholders that enables the school to maintain a high level of education delivery without compromising on any aspects.
Vishwashanti Gurukul (IB World School) is located at the Rajbaug campus, spread across the sprawling green 125 acres of land that is home to the Institute of Technology, Institute of Design, Institute of Film Studies, Academy of Navel Engineering and Technology, College of Music and so on. VGS is very fortunate to have the support of these partner institutions. Our young science students often get to attend guest lectures from the professors of MIT- Institute of Technology and it goes without saying that the Design students have unconditional support of and access to the excellent design laboratories of MIT ADT University. This is not only a blessing for students but also a wonderful support for teachers.
VGS offers an excellent residential facility to its boarding students. Students get the best amenities in a shared room, supervised by caring boarding parents, enabling students to develop a disciplined lifestyle. The sports facilities are unparalleled and are capable of preparing state and national-level sporting talents. School regularly hosts national competitions for swimming, badminton, archery, football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, chess, table tennis, and more.
Extracurriculars constitute a vital part of education. They add a variety of experiences and skills that complement the academic curriculum. VGS boasts a wide array of co- curricular and extracurricular activities run in the form of various clubs: Drama, Debate, Editorial, MUN, TEDx, Cooking, Visual and Performing Arts, and so on. Students compulsorily choose one club that suits their choice and aspirations.
"At VGS, we envision an ambitious dream of supporting students in their IDP (Individual Development Plans). Every student at VGS receives the support and guidance to have an IDP document, prepared by students, guided by subject teachers, supported by the counselors, monitored by the program coordinators, and accessible to parents for their input. These IDPs aim to realize the true and full potential of each student. We motivate students not to settle for mediocre results but to expect higher output from themselves", says Revered Prof. (Dr.) Vishwanath D. Karad, Founder at VGS.
"There is a constant endeavor to become a better version of one's own self. This nurturing atmosphere keeps the learners motivated towards building and developing the skills and not just memorizing facts to score more in exams. Our Assessment system does not promote ranking and percentage, we assess our learners on a Criterion Referencing System where each criterion is a description of a skill to achieve and not a mark to attain", he adds.
VGS is so proud of its roots in the Indian Culture and Ethos of `Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' a global family and its `World Peace Prayer', that, on a daily basis, in the form of morning prayer, reminds the students of the higher purpose of life, which is to achieve world peace. VGS was founded in the year 2006 and has produced graduates ever since the year 2011, who have gone far and wide, across the world as ambassadors of world peace.
