Vishwakarma University’s Faculty of Law hosted the ADR and Healthcare Summit 2025 in Pune, bringing together legal and healthcare experts to explore how alternative dispute resolution (ADR) can address the sector’s growing legal challenges. Organized by Samyak-Centre for Mediation and Arbitration, the event focused on strengthening practical understanding of mediation and arbitration within India’s healthcare landscape.

The summit comes at a time when healthcare disputes are becoming more complex, often requiring quicker, more specialized, and patient-sensitive forms of resolution. Established in March 2025, Samyak aims to build skills, promote interdisciplinary learning, and expand professional capacity in mediation and arbitration. The event reflects the university’s effort to connect academic learning with real-world legal practice.

M. K. Mahajan, Principal District and Sessions Judge of Pune, inaugurated the summit. Addressing participants, he emphasized the constitutional importance of ADR and noted that young lawyers have strong career opportunities in mediation and arbitration. The inauguration was also attended by Pune Bar Association President Hemant Zanjad and senior advocate Pratap Pardeshi.

A panel discussion featuring experts including Dr. Surekha Kashyap, Aniruddha Rajurkar, and Dr. Prasad Thakurdesai explored how ADR can help resolve medical negligence cases, patient grievances, institutional disputes, and regulatory issues. The discussion was moderated by advocate Tejas Hule.
