Meghalaya's First Engineering College gets AICTE

In a significant achievement for higher learning in Meghalaya, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma said that the Shillong Government College of Engineering has been formally approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to introduce Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering courses.

Honored to share that Shillong Government College of Engineering has been granted the Letter of Approval by AICTE to start Civil and Electrical Engineering courses," the Chief Minister posted on social media. "This is the inauguration of the first government engineering college in Meghalaya.

The establishment is viewed as an important leap towards increasing technical education infrastructure within the state and providing opportunities for the state's students to study engineering without needing to migrate elsewhere.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on January 16, 2023, opened the state's first Government Engineering College, the Shillong Government Engineering College in Mawlai Kynton Massar under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA).

Significantly, Shillong Government Engineering College will cover Degree courses of three technical streams i.e. Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mining Engineering with intake strength of 30 for each stream.
