Viksit Bharat Buildathon Ignites Student Innovation Across India

In a landmark moment for school education, over 3 lakh schools across India came together on October 14 to take part in the Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025, the country’s biggest ever live innovation challenge for school students.

Launched by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the nationwide event saw more than 1 crore students participating in a two hour innovation sprint. Working in teams, they created ideas and prototypes aimed at building a self-reliant and prosperous India. Themes included Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swadeshi, Samriddhi, and Vocal for Local.

Pradhan visited schools in Bhubaneswar, Delhi Cantt., and Mathura Road, encouraging students to dream big and use innovation to solve real-world problems. “India’s future will be built on the imagination and creativity of our children”, he said.

The Buildathon also featured School Spotlights, showcasing innovation stories from 150 remote and aspirational districts, giving lesser known schools a national platform.

Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy, praised the challenge as a way to promote creativity and hands-on learning. Deepak Bagla, Director of Atal Innovation Mission, highlighted how the event connected rural and urban India in a single innovation movement.

From small villages to major cities, the Viksit Bharat Buildathon has turned into a celebration of young minds imagining a better tomorrow.
