        - IIT Roorkee pilots Newton School’s AI-driven mock interview platform ‘Elevate’
- Tool replicates real corporate interviews and gives detailed performance feedback
- Aims to reduce interview anxiety and improve placement readiness among students
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has started testing Elevate, an AI-powered mock interview platform developed by Newton School to help students prepare more effectively for campus placements.
Built using insights from over one lakh real interviews, Elevate simulates company-style interviews and provides instant, data-backed feedback to help students identify their strengths and areas for improvement. The platform is part of Newton School’s broader effort to use artificial intelligence for enhancing employability and real-world readiness in education.
Many engineering students perform well in academics but often struggle during interviews due to stress or lack of structured practice. Newton School’s data shows that nearly 70% of software aspirants fail their first interviews mainly because of anxiety and communication issues rather than technical gaps.
Elevate addresses this by mimicking real interviews from companies such as Amazon, Google, Razorpay, and CRED. The tool evaluates student responses, asks follow-up questions, and provides a personalized performance report highlighting communication and problem-solving skills.

Prof. Raj Kumar Dutta, Professor in Charge, CDC (Chemistry Department) at IIT Roorkee, said the pilot will help students gain confidence through realistic, adaptive mock interviews. Nishant Chandra, Co-founder of Newton School, added that Elevate aims to make quality interview preparation accessible to all learners, regardless of background.
Students can take a free 7-minute demo or attempt full-length mock interviews anytime, offering flexible, AI-guided preparation for upcoming placements.
