Around 20 years ago, there was little re-search at Indian universities, and even today, most of the approximately 1,000 colleges and almost half of the 40,000 colleges are mainly educational in-stitutions. Koneru Lakshmaiah Education foundation is a Deemed to be University(K L University) that undertakes research and extension with emphasis on application and innovation that cater to the emerging societal needs through all-round development of students. K L University is located in Andhra Pradesh and was established in 1980 with 120 undergraduate intakes in four different branches. This is the first Institute to introduce Information Science and Technology, Industrial Production Engineering, Electronics and Computer Engineering, and Biotechnology in Andhra Pradesh among all private universities. The College achieved Deemed University status in 2009 under UGC Act 3 of 1956 and was certified by NAAC A++ grade with CGPA 3.57 on a 4.00-point scale in 2018.

In addition to 32 specializations offered in postgraduate studies in engineering and technology, KL University currently offers 53 programs with eight separate undergraduate programs, including law, architecture, pharmacy, arts, and science. The University

Distinguished Faculty and the R&D Center of the Campus
To Enhance R&D, 49 faculty research groups operate effectively by delivering quality courses and conducting research on the activities of the classroom under the leadership of senior doctorates. The University has developed several Research Labs and Centers of Excellence to support the growth of R&D activities. Approximately 30 research groups have been formed within the departments. K L University strives to be a research-intensive university with more than 500 doctoral faculty in a wide range of re-search disciplines, plus 2,400 research scholars in key areas working towards the country's social and industrial needs. The University was closed due to the lockdown announced by the central / state government in March 2020. The University conducts on-line classes, exams, assignments, and various activities to engage students with their academics in the current scenario. The University has success-fully completed the academic year 19-20 and also conducted the final exams through online proctoring. The final year results were declared and the new academic year was also started in online mode. The University has taken all necessary measures to protect the Academic year of its students.

Future Innovations and Excellence
KLEF aims to introduce flipped-classrooms and multilayer learning methodology in the coming years. The University has implemented a curriculum-based design and began online distance learning. Research centers will be revamped as centers of excellence with an expanded emphasis on start-ups, sponsored ventures, and patents.
