Vishwakarma University Hosts AI Pre-Summit on Future Skills and Human Capital

Vishwakarma University (VU) organized an AI Pre-Summit on Human Capital in the AI Era in Pune, bringing together policymakers, industry experts, academicians, and students to discuss how India can prepare its workforce for rapid AI-led change. The day-long event was held in collaboration with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, IndiaAI, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and Infosys.
The summit focused on how artificial intelligence is reshaping jobs, skills, and education systems across sectors. Discussions centered on workforce transformation, curriculum redesign, faculty upskilling, and the need for lifelong learning models that keep pace with emerging technologies.
In his inaugural address, Bharat Agarwal, President of Vishwakarma University, stressed that human capital remains the core driver of economic and urban growth. He noted that in the AI era, students, teachers, and professionals are learning together, and that AI is influencing every profession, not just engineering. He also highlighted Pune’s continued growth as a result of its strong talent base.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Sunil Luthra of AICTE emphasized India’s growing role in shaping global AI conversations. He said India will host the AI Impact Summit in 2026, focusing on inclusive development, social empowerment, and sustainable progress through AI.

Industry leaders echoed the need to balance technology with human judgment. Speakers from Infosys, FIS, Dassault Systemes, and RSB Transmissions highlighted that AI should enhance human potential, not replace it. They stressed the importance of creativity, critical thinking, leadership, and ethical decision-making alongside technical skills.
The summit concluded that close collaboration between academia and industry is essential to redesign education, align skills with future jobs, and ensure responsible AI adoption. The event reinforced Pune’s position as a key hub for education, innovation, and thought leadership, supporting India’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
