Telangana chief minister A. Revanth Reddy announced a major push to transform Osmania University (OU) into a world-class center for higher education and research. Speaking at the Arts College building on campus, he assured students and faculty that the government is fully committed to strengthening the university’s infrastructure and academic ecosystem.

Revanth confirmed that the state has already released Rs 1,000 crore for upgrading campus facilities, calling it a step toward building OU into a premier global institution. He emphasized that the government’s support will continue, and the funding reflects his promise to elevate the university’s standards.

Addressing students directly, Revanth appreciated the historic role of student movements in the formation of Telangana but urged them to stay focused on their careers. He cautioned against becoming tools of political parties and said protests should always be driven by justice and public welfare.

“I will never ask you not to protest”, he said. “But your fight should be for your future and the state's welfare, not for issues that benefit political groups”.

Revanth also responded to past criticism about leaders visiting the campus. He said some warned him that OU students might oppose his visit, but he arrived with “admiration and affection”, not fear. “What is needed is not courage but respect for this institution”, he said.

The CM’s announcement marks one of the largest recent investments in a public university in Telangana, with a strong focus on modern facilities, research strength, and student development.
