  • PSEB to certify both academic and vocational education under NSQF.
  • Initiative aims to make students job-ready with practical skills.
  • MoU signed with Lend A Hand India to strengthen vocational training.

The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) is set to become a dual recognition body, offering certification in both academic and vocational education under the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) of the Government of India. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between traditional classroom learning and practical, industry-based skills, ensuring students are better prepared for future employment.

Dr. Amarpal Singh, Chairman of PSEB, highlighted that the reform is designed to “empower, not merely evaluate,” emphasizing education that prepares students “for both life and livelihood”. The new approach will create an integrated education model that aligns academic learning with real-world skill development.

Under this dual certification model, students will receive two qualifications, one academic and one vocational, making Punjab one of the first states to implement such a system. This move is expected to make school education more inclusive, employment-oriented, and aligned with the evolving needs of the job market.

To implement this vision, PSEB has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lend A Hand India (LAHI), a leading organization promoting skill-based education aligned with NSQF standards. The collaboration focuses on curriculum design, industry partnerships, and teacher training to ensure vocational learning becomes an integral part of the school system.

Officials added that this partnership will also introduce competency-based assessments and standardised training modules, helping Punjab’s secondary schools create a sustainable ecosystem for skill development and lifelong learning.
