Dr. S.Muruganadam,PrincipalTechnology has become the veins for the flow of economy in every part of the world; India benefits the most from the technology and innovation sector. The country ranks 81 out of 141 countries on the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2015. This rank clearly implies that the gap between the middle income economies is rapidly closing as the quality of innovation and research has been fuelled by quality of higher education institutions. Blue Brain is a technology much talked about in recent times for its use of technology to study the human brain, started in Switzerland.

A faculty member of Department of Computer Science and Engineering, K Ramakrishna College of Technology, Mr. K Sathish has written a research paper on blue brain. This innovation is a project attempted to create a synthetic brain by reverse engineering mammalian brain circuitry to study the brain’s architectural and functional behavior. The faculty members of this institute have worked upon many such interesting innovations recently. From its inception on 2010, the institute is said to have produced talented professionals with a vision of making the rural pocket as a hub of technocrats. The institute’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering is one of the most prominent departments of the KRCT and holds 5th rank in the ranking of Anna University among 506 engineering colleges affiliated to Anna University Chennai, in the academic year 2013-2014.

The CSE stands with a mission to impart global knowledge and
guidance to software professionals. Students are said to have gained much from the well equipped laboratories availed to them. Various activities are conducted such as industrial visits, in-plant training programs to upgrade their skills and expertise. Enhanced teaching aids such as OHP, LCD projectors and E-Learning which help the students visualize the concepts clearly in an easily and understandable manner is incorporated in the learning methodology. Both the students and faculty members are encouraged for research studies and a number of papers have been presented by them. Image Retrieval using random domain Sinogram, Rational Software Architecture, Network Simulator are some of the papers presented by the students. The research committee of KRCT takes initiatives in research oriented activities. Financial support is assisted and awarded to faculty members pursuing any research activities such as paper presentation, attending national and international conferences, work shops and cash award for journal publications.

These activities have built up a remarkable reputation of its own and have attracted notable organizations in placing the students as professionals in their respected vicinity. KRCT boasts of a unique training program which enables employability in the students. The training and placement cell conducts a number of skill development programs prior to the placement drives conducted in the campus every year. The training focuses on confidence-building, team work and communication skills. Organizational skills, customer care, effective networking, equal opportunities are some of the rare features also included in the program. Along with these, the institute organized 15 national conferences, 100 seminars and workshops in the last three years. Regular Campus Connect programs are organized in collaboration with WIPRO, iNautix,HCL with mentors from these organizations teaching and sharing their on-field experiences, thus availing an opportunity to
connect with the professionals. Top notch recruiters such as Kochar, TCS, Wipro, iNautix offering an average yearly emolument of Rs 3.25 lakh increased up to Rs 4.60 lakh as the highest.

In the current academic year, 2294 students are pursuing higher education with faculty strength of 164 at the faculty-student ratio of 1:14. The faculty members have expertise from a number of leading industrial and educational organizations. The members undergo rigorous faculty development programs throughout an academic year attending workshops and exchange programs which helps them adept with the current developments in their areas of expertise. Apart from CSE, the institute also offers B.E and M.E courses in Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, Civil and Electronics and Communication Engineering, VLSI Design and Embedded Systems.

The management of KRCT boasts of their infrastructure as the best in all the engineering institutes of this region. A central library houses a rich collection of 11,249 books, 95 national journals and 23 international and e-journals in all subjects with recent publications. Open gallery structured auditorium, spacious class rooms, tutorial rooms with Wi-Fi connectivity, ICT enabled class rooms, recreation facilities, cafeteria and gymnasium are added for overall development of students.
