In the mid 2000s, when one of the early batches of Alliance Business School graduates were preparing to face the career deciding moment of placement interviews, the Placement officer rushed into the cabin of Dr. Madhukar Angur, founder of Alliance University, with a list of 12 students who cracked theOracle aptitude test, one of the toughest tests of the decade. The placement officer also requested Dr. Angurto make the students ready for the final interviews, which would happen within the week. It was a tough task intrying times for Dr. Angur as he was shuttling between India and the U.S. in pursuit of finding the best faculty who can teach at his newly established Alliance Business School. Dr. Angur still remembers those days as he says,“As a teacher you cannot make anyone subject matter experts within a week. Indeed, they were all thorough with the management theories. The only thing I needed do was boost their self-efficacy and to achieve that I had to train them like a coach rather than teacher.” The restis history as 9 out of 12 students returned to the institute with Oracle’s offer letter in hand.
