The Indian engineering education was recently criticized for following engineering modules that were crafted much more theoretically, with very little practical exposure to the industry. This placed a huge boulder on the shoulders of academic institutions to transmute their fundamental pedagogy and filter out curriculums that failed to produce astute industry ready individuals. While a large majority of them engaged in the revising process, the 1997 established Ballari Institute of Technology & Management(BITM) celebrated its prudent academic approach the seeds of which were sown right at its inception. Ranked one among the ‘Best Engineering Colleges in Karnataka’, the institute follows a stringent outcome based education system, where every theoretical concept is backed by practical coverage and is constantly bombarded with modules based on well identified industry oriented tutelage.

BITM backs the success of nurturing and graduating engineering legends in the making. One such being Shreyas an average management quota applicant who not just graduated in flying colors but also earned national recognition for his pioneering contribution ‘Robot Exam Invigilator’,that could revolutionize conventional modes of monitoring examinations. This attributes BITM as the dream destination of every engineering aspirant that also houses state-of-the-art infrastructure (tech savvy classrooms, elearning center and a library with over one-lakh volume of books, incubation & research center) and over 210 veteran faculties. With three of its engineering programs (Computer Science, Electronics & Mechanical Engineering) accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), its work based learning programs and dual emphasis on academic excellence and self reflection, BITM proves to be an ideal platform moulding the future of engineering in the country.
Nurturing Talents & Reaping Excellence

Stretched across a well facilitated 15 acre campus, BITMs engineering courses are classified into Undergraduate programs(computer science, electronics, mechanical, electrical and civil engineering) & Postgraduate programs (masters in technology in computer network engineering, Power Electronics & VLSI Design & Embedded Systems). Students enjoy the benefits of this richly bestowed campus that avails Wi-Fi/hotspot, hostel facilities and exclusive innovation eco systems that encourage them to identify and grow ultimate innovative potentials. “To make students more tech savvy, we are abreast with the latest technologies and the course is planned in such a way that it has a combination of both normal and pedagogic self learning methods. We instill inquisitiveness in them so students know how to identify and solve problems using technology making them industryready,” avers YJ Prithvi Raj Bhupal, Deputy Director, BITM.

The institution also encourages students to actively participate in various national level competitions and hackathons and also maintains significant ties with IBM, Infosys, Wipro, Harita (a unit of TVS Company), IIT Bombay eYantra Robotic Lab, Cloud Labs, Mobility and Data Analytics Labs. “With such an exposure, students develop the keenness to work with technology or bring out innovative ideas that convert into projects eventually aiding them to become future ready entrepreneurs,” adds Prithvi. Further the availability of a career guidance cell, the incubation centre and an exclusive centre for foreign languages (German & French) only widens the scope for BITM students to ace in the real world. Settling students in renowned companies deems a key focus of BITM and its distinct Industry Advisory Board fulfils this vision with around 79 percent students getting successfully placed every year in companies like Haita, Infosys, Wipro, IBM, CGI, MindTree, L&T Technology Services, TCS and many more.

Top performers are further recognized and rewarded for outstanding performances throughout, while the meritorious and economically backward students receive scholarships for future endeavours. As a bustling platform of illustrious talent and excellence, BITM aims for an autonomous status within the next two years, and seeks to match pace with industrial standards by constantly modifying academic modules and teaching methods, striding as a go to establishment for engineering programs.
