KlayPreSchools: Bringing Women Back to the Workplace

The necessities of daily life and material aspirations often induce both parents to work. Among them, otherhood confers upon a woman the responsibility of raising a child. Priya Kirshnan, CEO of Klay Preschools is an example of that. She was in London when she had her first child and to continue her work she was dependenton day care centers. The situation was similar when she came back to India with two kids as there were hardly few day cares centers in Bangalore whereshe could drop her kids with complete trust and satisfaction. Then happened Klay; a high-end preparatory school, which has been created by resolving the limitations of existing day care centers in Bangalore. “Many women in our country are not able to take their job further due to motherhood. I wanted to create an ecosystem where parents can drop their child and go back to their work without any worries,” says Priya Kirshnan, a completely satisfied woman for all her efforts to build up high quality pre school.
From a single preschool that was established in 2011, Klay has grown by leaps and bounds in the last few years. Today, whether it is in the established Bangalore or in the emerging Gurgaon, Klay Preschools are the most common neighbors of IT Parks in India that encourages a large number of women to take up their job in their mother hood. Though Klay managed to gain the reputation of being one of the best preschools in the country, they were in a nascent stage in the corporate daycare sector, which is said to be one of the most effective solutions to bring back women to the work place. In 2004, Klay acquired a promising pre school from Mumbai called The Little Company. Unlike Klay,The Little Company had a strong presence in the Corporate day care sector with clients such as Hindustan Unilever Ltd, L'Oreal India Pvt. Ltd and Johnson & Johnson to name a few.
Further to the acquisition, Priya Krishnan is nowplanning for the next stage of developments. Forthat, she has builta strong team of management thatincludes some of best brains from The Little Companyunder one umbrella company named Founding Years.“At present, we have nearly 2000 kids learning andplaying in 15 corporate and 17 retails centers. We willcontinue providing childcare solutions for corporateas well as retails market along with products for kidsfrom Founding Years,” says Priya Krishnan. In thecurrent socio-economic scenarios, institutions like Klayare inevitable assets for the society where kids cancelebrate their childhood in a secure environment whiletheir parents are away at work.
