Milind Chimurkar,PresidentFollowing-up on the risk survey report 2019 by FICCI India, fire accidents accord 15.86 percent of the overall risk in the manufacturing industry. Despite an increase in fire safety covers to minimize the fire loss, the country suffers about a 90 percent shortage of skilled professionals to man the safety equipment or safety services. To fill this growing lacuna, the Indian Institute Of Fire Engineering (IIFE) is training fire brigadiers & command staff in saving both life and property from any fire hazards. Over the past quarter century, the institute has generated more than 7000 fire safety experts through its quality education in training, prevention, inspection, and absolute preparedness.

Incepted by Milind Chimurkar (President, IIFE) in 1996, this Nagpur-based institute is recognized as one of the first and oldest government-recognized private colleges to offer Advance diploma courses in Fire Safety Engineering, shaping excellent safety engineers and security officers. Being one of the industry’s most revered institutions, IIFE has tie-ups with many MNCs, who offer internships as well as placement opportunities for its students in India and abroad. This explains why the course demand is very high where the seats are pre-booked for a year in advance for some courses.

IIFE presents three-course choices: Diploma, Certification and Advanced, offered under a
full-fledged training roof, delivered by dedicated teaching staff. Amongst all these, its Advanced Diploma in Industrial safety is the most sought-after course to look for. Additionally, IIFFE offers specialized courses in Fire Safety Management & Fire Safety Equipment Designing, Disaster Management and Rescue Operation Trainings. In fact, IIFE is entrusted by countries like Bhutan to address the fire safety norms for their rescue workers and is an authorized trainer of Maha Metro in Fire Prevention, handling of emergency situations, First Aid and moral responsibility towards society.

IIFE is affiliated to Maharashtra State Board Of Technical Education and to NCVTE (for short term courses) where the course duration varies from 1-2 years. The applying candidates must have a Diploma in Engineering/Technology from a state education board or science graduation from a recognized university, bearing minimum marks of 40 percent. To pass the physical agility test, one should be of minimum 165 cm in height, chest width of 81-85 cm with no color blindness and physical deformity. IIFE also facilitates student loans for students and ensures a hassle-free process for them.
