Called the Nation Builders University, UPES was created in 2003 by the UPES Act in Uttarakhand. Students are provided with industry-focused specialized graduate, post graduate and doctoral programs in areas such

as Energy, Infrastructure, Transportation, Information Technology, Public Policy and Legal studies.This powerhouse of courses certainly equips a student to tackle global issues.The students are a part of the social responsibility drives by the university participating in activities like green initiatives, summer school projects and campus projects as well for the betterment of the society at large.

With over 200 companies coming to recruit annually, priority has to be placed on honing and polishing

students through rigorous academics, research and development and training and placements. Companies in the caliber of ITC and the Tata and the L&T groups among many other often recruit students of the University. Entrepreneurship is also encouraged with the burgeoning cell aptly named ENERGY. The cell provides incubation and seed funding, research and so on for students interested in entrepreneurial pursuits. Students from UPES graduate with the technical knowledge and practical skills required to build this nation.
