Dr Aravind Chinchure
Executive Leadership Coach
In this context, leaders like Dr Aravind Chinchure have become increasingly vital, not just for navigating uncertainty, but for reshaping how to lead altogether. A physicist turned innovation leader, entrepreneur, and educator, Dr Aravind has spent his career helping organizations and leaders stay ahead in environments defined by complexity and change.
His background in physics shaped his ability to understand how different elements connect, influence one another, and evolve over time, an outlook that informs his work at the intersection of research, technology, entrepreneurship, business and policy. Drawing from experiences across sectors, Dr Aravind outlines in his book ‘The New Age Organisation’ a leadership model built for complexity, one that moves beyond traditional structures, embraces decentralised decision-making, and fosters innovation focused on real outcomes.
Journey From Physics to Impact
From solving complex physics problems at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research to shaping innovation policy and social development, Dr Aravind Chinchure has navigated one of the most unconventional and inspiring professional journeys.
With a PhD in Physics, he began his career as a researcher at globally renowned scientific institutions. After a research stint in the Netherlands and plans to join the Max Planck Institute in Germany, an unexpected offer from General Electric changed his path. GE was setting up its R&D center in India, and despite not seeking a change, he was intrigued and accepted the offer.
True to his form, Dr Aravind did not remain confined to one path. In 2003, when India’s startup ecosystem was still emerging, he joined a venture in Noida as a founding team member, focusing on intellectual property. He then moved to Honeywell in Bangalore, taking on a cross-functional role in technology strategy, and IP, before joining Reliance Industries in the Chairman’s Office as part of the Reliance Innovation Leadership Center.
At the age of 46, Dr Aravind made another significant shift, stepping away from corporate life to pursue impact driven work. He founded India’s first innovation and entrepreneurship program at Symbiosis, contributed to World Bank initiatives focused on STI and IP capacity building in neighbouring countries, and played a key role in global research collaborations.
Over the years, Dr Aravind has also been a member of several national startup and innovation committees, served on the boards of multiple social organizations, and held a senior fellowship at a prominent policy think tank.
What makes Dr Aravind’s journey remarkable is not just the transitions across sectors, but the fearlessness in embracing the unknown. He brings a physicist’s ability to break down complexity, a strategist’s eye for scale, and an educator’s instinct to connect dots across disciplines.
Defining Moments from Labs to Boardrooms
Dr Aravind’s journey spans groundbreaking research, billion dollar strategy, global policy, and grassroots transformation. At GE, he was part of a high-impact tech project backed by a $100M annual R&D budget, collaborating with top minds across continents. At Reliance, Dr Aravind moved from execution to vision, tasked with driving bottoms up innovation culture and crafting billion-dollar ventures from scratch. He then transitioned into global development, advising South Asian governments through World Bank initiatives on innovation ecosystems.
Dr Aravind’s next leap was academic, building India’s first MBA in Innovation & Entrepreneurship, not by replicating Harvard or Stanford, but by creating a real-world curriculum that’s still thriving a decade later. He’s worked alongside Nobel Laureates, worked with rural women-led organizations, and found purpose in guiding others.
Coaching Across Fortune 500s, Startups & Academia
Dr Aravind adapts his coaching to the unique needs of large corporates, startups, and academic institutions.
With Fortune 500 companies and mid-sized organizations, the focus is mission-driven growth, doubling revenue, productivity, or sales within a defined timeframe. “It’s about setting bold goals and aligning execution around them”, he says. His approach combines strategic perspective with a three-step coaching methodology, including defining bold aspirations based on market needs and internal strengths, bridging capability gaps through actionable roadmaps, and guiding leaders through holistic transformation that integrates business outcomes with personal growth. In one such engagement with a mid-sized company, this approach led to over 45 percent year-on-year growth.
Startups seek his guidance on strategic choices, including whether to raise funds, how to scale, or which direction to take. His experience with building billion-dollar businesses helps them move from early traction to 10x growth.
Academic institutions engage him to enhance relevance and impact. He supports faculty development, industry aligned research, global collaborations, and building strong incubation ecosystems.
Building Entrepreneurial Leaders
Dr Aravind’s mission to build entrepreneurial leaders stems from the belief that real progress begins when individuals move beyond fixed roles and adopt an ownership mindset that drives innovation, account ability, and lasting impact.
At the core of his approach is the H-I-T model from his book The New Age Organisation. ‘H’ represents human skills like empathy and self-awareness, ‘I’ stands for innovation tools such as problem-solving and creativity, and ‘T’ refers to a working understanding of technology as a catalyst. These qualities are essential not just for building businesses, but for navigating the increasing complexity and uncertainty of the world today.
As intelligent machines evolve and certainty fades, Dr Aravind believes the defining trait of future leaders will be their ability to grow as human beings. This begins with selfawareness, observing the world without judgement, and then moving toward an expanded consciousness. In his view, true leadership lies in the capacity to collaborate meaning fully with technology while staying grounded in human values. That is where real transformation begins.
Looking ahead, Dr Aravind is building a new venture to redefine leadership development for CXOs and CEOs. The idea is to offer real-time support through a network of coaches and intelligent technology, moving beyond one-size-fits-all programs. Though still in its early stages, the initiative reflects his vision of helping leaders grow with purpose.
