Bloom: A Child-Centric Space Nurturing Happier Minds

Rearing future leaders for the society demands a strong foundation to develop trust, security and spiritual values, which are the front porch notions a child need before they socialize. In the earlier generations, children living with their extended family had a variety of role models to emulate. However, increased traction of disintegrated families led to absent caregivers and overwhelmed parents, who are unable to pace up their work home balance. Falling prey to a situation akin, Kinjal Mehta (Director, Bloom) searched for a child-friendly & homely day-care to salvage her parentage and failed to find one. To bridge the gap, she left behind her decades of corporate experience, embarked upon a ‘Social Entrepreneurship Project’ of Day Care Center and started Bloom in 2013.

Kinjal says, “We provide a fertile ground to foster the physical & mental well-being of the children with a child first motto and a happy daycare atmosphere.” Perpetuating the thought that ‘it takes a village to bring up the child’ with blend of science for their cognitive jubilation, the preschool provides a stimulating environment for fun learning, sprinkled with affection and care. “Quality for Bloom means happy stimulating environment for children to explore their creativity, well-ventilated facilities with natural light and cross ventilation, outdoor space for children to play around and loving teachers to facilitate learning and play,” explains Kinjal.

Bloom has devised a unique preschool pedagogy, which nurtures eight sets of human skills(linguistics, numerical, interpersonal, self intrapersonal, kinesthetic, cognitive, musical, natural and environmental) to help them grow up to be mentally sound and physically strong individuals. It has designed separate modules for age groups of three-six years with a wide range of intellect stimulating, talent building & fitness building activities via talent shows & sports based on the child’s interest in order to bring out their inner talent. Furthermore, Bloom celebrates each festivity with enthusiasm to nurture the young minds
by cultivating values and life-skills practiced in Indian society.

Bloom’s admissions are open for infants of six months till toddlers of 18 months, which is confirmed after a personal meeting to understand the needs of both the parents and the infants. Following a thorough analysis after the meet, the school works out a perfect course-plan, keeping in mind parent’s career goals alongside the child’s developmental milestones and well being. Kinjal adds, “We provide parents with daily record for preschool and our bi-annual open house, to establish a communication channel with the parents”. Going an extra mile, Bloom also provides support services for the modern parents, be it dispelling the child’s fear, for scholastic disputes or for helping a child to celebrate his/her family milestones.

Planning Forward
The school also has tie-ups with large malls, expos and airports, wherein Bloom outsources its workforce to establish and run an effective daycare service at these locations, on call. To provide a complete hand holding for the busy corporate parents and support corporates to attract & retain talents and enhance productivity, it is planning to jointly develop ‘Inhouse daycare services’ in the premises of large corporate, business houses and technology parks.

Kinjal concludes, “Bloom was started with a noble intention of implementing altruistic services for the society with absolute transparency. It is now equipped enough to provide daycare and creche service in the business districts and localities of Mumbai, Pune and Surat.”
