San Maria High School was founded in 2014 and it achieved CBSE affiliation in 2020. It has a student strength of approximately 1,445 along with a team of 65 teaching and 21 non-teaching staff. The premises of the school is spread across four acres and it offers a well-equipped playground supporting sports such as volleyball, kabaddi, and more, alongside a developing swimming pool and a play area for kindergarten students.
What differentiates San Maria High School from other competitors in the region is that the class sizes are limited to 35-40 students to ensure personalized attention, according to the NEP framework for structured academic divisions. The school offers holistic and modern educational methodologies to nurture young minds with quality education and student achievement. “We have consistently performed well in Grade 10 board examinations and secured the district top position twice in the last four years. Our school has now expanded to include Grade 12, with its first batch currently enrolled”, informs Jagan Mohan Thumma, Founder & Director, San Maria High School.
The school gives every student the support they need to succeed, both in academics and sports. It takes a balanced approach to create an environment where students can grow academically while also exploring their passions and talents. Classes are structured based on learning levels, and students who need extra help get guidance from teachers. For sports lovers, the school offers more than just regular Physical Education periods, there’s additional training from 4:00 to 5:30 PM to help them sharpen their skills.
Beyond academics, the school encourages creativity and talent through co-curricular activities. Every fourth Saturday is celebrated as ‘No Bag Day’, as per Telangana government guidelines, where students take a break from textbooks and participate in fun activities such as quizzes, cultural programs, and other skill-based competitions. Teachers help students find activities that match their interests, ensuring that everyone gets a chance to shine.
Integrating Technology for Enhanced Learning
San Maria High School effectively integrates technology into its teaching methods to enhance student learning and engagement. The school follows the NCERT curriculum for middle and high school while using cutting-edge technologies such as smart TVs, digital resources, and work books. Text books have QR codes that allow students to access additional learning materials online. Meanwhile, teachers use smart boards and digital content to make lessons more interactive and comprehensive.
In the primary section, students use tablets linked to the classroom TVs. Lessons are structured so that one topic must be completed before the next unlock, ensuring a systematic learning approach. In middle and high school, smart boards facilitate dynamic teaching, with teachers and students collaborating in discussions. Students are encouraged to present seminars and projects using smart boards to improve their communication and research skills.
Building Strong Community Connection
San Maria High School works in close collaboration with parents, alumni, and the community to create a supportive learning environment. The school organizes cultural events such as Sankranti, Dussehra, and Navaratri, where parents are invited to take part in activities such as rangoli competitions and traditional celebrations. “We believe that these events bring families together and make them feel more connected to the school. We also give appreciation awards and prizes to parents who get involved to encourage participation”, adds Jagan.
The school values parents’ feedback and holds Parent Teacher Association (PTA) meetings at regular intervals. These meetings provide a space for discussions about academics, curriculum, fees, and student development. Parents share their thoughts on improving various aspects, including hostel facilities, and the school takes their suggestions seriously to rectify the amenities and offerings. San Maria High School aims to provide students with the best possible support for their education and overall growth by listening to parents and involving them in school activities.
The Robust Way Ahead
Over the last decade, San Maria High School has witnessed tremendous growth and achieved accolades in various fields through an interactive, modern, and student-centered learning environment. The students not only rose to the occasion in academics but they have also performed well in sports with three students getting selected for the national volleyball team, and one student qualifying for the national Kabaddi team.
“We are continuously growing with an increasing student strength and are excited to develop an indoor sports arena within our upcoming auditorium, featuring badminton, table tennis, snooker, and other indoor games. We hope these facilities will provide students with more opportunities to explore their talents beyond academics”, concludes Jagan.
