
UPL University Partners with Oxford's OICSD to Boost Sustainable Education

- UPL University and Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development sign MoU to promote knowledge exchange in sustainability and climate action.
- Faculty training at Oxford and expert led seminars at UPL University to start from 2026.
- Partnership aims to build global academic links and drive innovation in sustainable food systems and technology.
UPL University of Sustainable Technology has partnered with the Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development (OICSD) at Somerville College, University of Oxford, to strengthen academic exchange and learning in sustainability, climate change, and innovation.
Under the new MoU, select faculty from UPL University will travel to Oxford each year for training sessions focused on research and curriculum development. These visits will begin in the summer of 2026. At the same time, Oxford based experts will deliver a special seminar series at UPL University. The programme will include two in-person and two online lectures annually, covering topics like Artificial Intelligence, Sustainable Development, Climate Action, and Technological Innovation.
Jai Shroff, Chairman and Group CEO of UPL Ltd., said this collaboration will empower students and faculty in India to tackle global sustainability challenges and turn UPL University into a global hub for education and innovation.
Baroness Jan Royall, Principal of Somerville College and Executive Director of the OICSD, said the renewed collaboration will help strengthen UK-India ties while driving advances in sustainable agriculture and environmental solutions.

UPL University President Ashok Panjwani highlighted that the initiative would open global learning opportunities for Indian students and academic staff, helping them participate in key international discussions on sustainability and technology.
This partnership began in 2021 with the OpenAg Symposium and has grown to include training, seminars, and joint research. UPL University also continues to build similar partnerships worldwide in areas like automation, robotics, and process engineering, helping students gain practical skills and global exposure.
