TiE Hyderabad Team 'POP & LICK' won the second prize at the annual TiE Young Entrepreneurs Global Final Competition held in Washington, DC in collaboration with TiE and TYE (The Young Entrepreneurs).The young
Hyderabad team won prize money of $2K for their achievement. The overall winners at the TYE Global Finals 2018 announced in Washington were: TiE Oregon (MelaKnow), TiE Hyderabad (Pop & Lick) and TiE Atlanta (Bye-bye Wi-Fi).
Kali Prasad Gadiraju, President, TiE Hyderabad, says, “We are proud of these young, talented students. Their performance at the world stage is truly outstanding. The victory is an example of exemplary group-effort. He attributed the success as a result of parents, schools, and the TiE mentors from Hyderabad chapter’s union, guidance, and their committed efforts for grooming these students over the last few months to compete at global level.”

‘Maker’s Faire’ and ‘Elevator Pitch’. The Team POP & LICK were declared the winners of TiE – TYE Hyderabad 2017 - 18 Business Plan Competition for their innovative Product which was an Edible Popsicle holder that prevents dripping and interestingly the popsicle - holder is an eco-friendly which is fully edible. The team consists of Aryana Rao & Sreeja Muppidi from Chirec, Sohini Kasu from Oakridge, Abheek Dendukuri from Sadhu Vaswani, Mukund T Dittakavi from Bhavans, Vaishnavi Simran from SilverOaks and Jeshurun from Rockwell. However, the team expressed their joy in, “Thank you to all Mentors, Coaches, Parents, and Hyderabad Chapter Leaders for making this possible.”
Phani Pattamatta, Executive Director, TiE Hyderabad, says, “TiE Young Entrepreneurs is the best global program for our high school graders opting to learn, compete and grow. Each year we conduct TYE ‘for the entrepreneurs by the entrepreneurs’ and a possibility of global competition upon selection”.
TYE, a TiE global initiative that is designed to teach high school students entrepreneurship and leadership skills. The TYE program is a 16 week period, which comprises of class room instruction, design thinking workshops, mentoring support for business plan development and culminates with business plan competition for high school students(grades 9-12 or equivalent college students are allowed).
