LNMIIT Jaipur win National Championship, while Ashoka University, Sonepat Lifts the International Trophy at Tata Crucible Campus Quiz - 2019

Si TeamOn May 2nd 2019 India's largest and highest rated business quiz, Tata Crucible Campus Quiz held its 15th edition of national/international finals at the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai. Deepjyoti Kalita & Aditya Chakraborty from LNMIIT, Jaipur won the national title, and Mayukh Nair & Anit Basu Thakur from Ashoka University, Sonepat were announced as the inter-national champions. The winners of the national and international finals were felicitated by the chief guest, S. Pad-manabhan, Executive Chairman ­ Tata Business Excellence Group (TBExG), Tata Sons, along with Harish Bhat, Brand Custodian, Tata Sons.

The National winners took home the coveted Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2019 trophy along with a cash prize of Rs. 5,00,000/-, to which, while reminiscing about the earlier days of Tata Crucible, Padmanabhan said, "Two decades ago, Tata Crucible was conceived by a very small team. The idea was to create a platform for the larger audience outside the group, which would reflect the group DNA of knowledge-sharing. At that time, we'd never imagined that it will transform into the biggest quiz of all times. This phenomenal journey is the result of the dedication of not just the team behind it, but also the participants, the campuses ­ there has been an evolution of the complete ecology of quizzing around Tata Crucible".

This year, the India edition witnessed a strong participation of more than 7000 teams across 39 cities in India, attracting students from all corners of the country, especially with growing participation from tier II and III cities. Trivandrum and Bhopal were two new cities added this year, which saw an encouraging response from students. On the other hand the
International Finals saw a face-off between top two teams from India, Singapore and Dubai.

Joyous with their National Finals win, Aditya Chakraborty (LNMIIT) says, "It has been an amazing and fulfilling journey for us as we have met our expectations and beyond. We kept small targets, as we were apprehensive about competing against pro-quizzers. But after winning the Jaipur finals, we just kept chasing the ultimate goal". His team mate, Deepjyoti Kalita adds, "In hindsight we feel, the analytical approach taken at each step of the quiz helped us mastering our strengths to win the coveted title". Ecstatic to the glorious win at the International finale of Tata Crucible, Mayukh Nair from Ashoka University, Sonepat says, "Our joy is inexplicable in words at the moment, we are reliving the moment in our minds. It feels great that our continuous practice along with final-year preparation resulted in this big win". To the aspiring Tata Crucible quizzers, Anit Basu Thakur, has one message, "Never stop learning, and never stop observing brands as one never knows what's going to be asked at the Tata Crucible quiz!" The stimulating quiz was hosted by the charismatic quizmaster Giri Balasubramaniam AKA `Pickbrain'.

The Quiz this year was designed in an exciting and rapidly moving T-20 cricket format which tested the participants' strategic thinking, risk taking, and prompt decision making skills. Some of the interesting questions asked at the finale included one where participants had to identify a business by its logo, which a team correctly answered: the logo was of a company that supplied strawberries for Wimbledon. Besides the India edition, Tata Crucible also had its 3rd edition in Dubai and 12th edition in Singapore. The prizes for this edition of Tata Crucible Campus Quiz were being supported by Fastrack.
