IITs Earn the Big Packages, One US IT Giant Offers Rs.1.5 Crore Package

IITs isn’t termed as a dream institute of many students and a go-to hiring destination for companies just like that. Especially the recent years witnessed an increase in the size of the salary packages offered by both domestic and international companies. Domestic companies have offered packages of Rs.62 lakh to Rs.80 lakh. However, the recent hiring spree saw a US, California-based IT giant Cohesity offering the best package of $200,000 (nearly Rs.1.5 crore). On the other hand, Optiver, a buying and selling agency, has hired extra college students for nearly €157,999 (approx. Rs.1.4 crore) for its Amsterdam, Sydney profiles. These interviews were conduct this year virtually.

At IIT-Bombay, Optiver hired seven college students for roles in buying and selling, software program, and Quant analysis for its Amsterdam and Sydney profiles. The company conducted extra interviews within the second slot at IIT-Bombay. A pupil confirmed that the quantity of roles supplied by the institute could be very encouraging in the pandemic times. However, the best offer came from Cohesity that shortlisted one pupil for its US profile within the second slot, but the closing is yet to confirm.

However, the bigger lot was picked by the domestic company Qualcomm, nearly 11 from IIT-Bombay and eight from IIT-Madras, at Rs.46.4 lakh. Following the suite were WorldQuant who offered Rs.39.7 lakh, Morgan Stanley offered Rs,37.2 lakh and Uber that offered Rs.35 lakh.

Microsoft, Google Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, Boston Consulting Group, Apple and Bain & Co at IIT-Bombay made the best offers. The graduating students of class of 2021 from IIT-Bombay received 153 pre-placement offers.

Day one at IIT-Kanpur closed with 226 offers, where Graviton Trading hired three college students for a package of Rs. 82 lakh, and QuantField supplied a package of Rs. 80 lakh to at least one pupil (package consists of becoming a member of and efficiency bonuses). Cohesity supplied the United States profile with at least one pupil. Apple and Cohesity (for Indian profiles) received Rs. 60+ lakh offers, and Google, and Microsoft, supplied engaging packages for home profiles at the institute.

IIT-Madras defeated the Covid blues with 123 offers by 22 firms in day one’s session 1.1, which is greater than from any previous educational years. In the final educational year of 2019-2020, 20 firms at the top of session 1.1 made 102 offers. Microsoft (19 offers), Texas Instruments (12), Bajaj Auto (10), Isro (10), and Alphonso Inc (9) were among the Top recruiters at IIT-Madras. TSMC, KLA Tencor, GE and Wipro, including other firms, totaling 24 firms, will comprise the second day’s slot.

A Rajakumar, chairperson, Career Development Centre, IIT Kharagpur, said, “This is the highest number among all other top academic institutes in India at the top MNCs in spite of the current economic condition.” From the 425 internship alternatives, 276 got transformed into pre-placement offers at IIT-Kharagpur.
Almost 30 firms, participated on day one, made 130+ placement offers. Worldwide profiles were supplied at the institute by TSMC, Sony-Japan and Cohesity US. During the preliminary days of the on-campus placement, 25-27 percent firms visited from the core sector, 65 percent from the software programming sector, and 10 percent from the consulting sector.

IIT-Roorke had three worldwide offers from the first slot, one from every Japanese IT agency Diverta Inc, Topline and London-based funding agency Squarepoint Capital.

Which is more exciting is a pupil received a domestic offer of Rs. 80 lakh annual package, which crossed the last year’s Rs. 60 lakh mark.
