Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati strengthens global ties with four Memorandums of Understanding with prestigious international educational institutions. The institute advances knowledge exchange through formal collaborations with Dalhousie University, Canada, and Gifu University, Japan.

Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Officiating Director at IIT Guwahati, expressed satisfaction during the event about collaborations with partner institutes. He highlighted, 'IIT Guwahati is dedicated to enhancing students’ academic and personal development through these initiatives. The main objective is to enhance students' educational experience, with cross-cultural opportunities playing a crucial role. Essentially, the collaborations seek to offer students diverse learning experiences and growth prospects, nurturing a holistic educational atmosphere at IIT Guwahati.'

This groundbreaking collaboration introduces joint doctoral programs to encourage dynamic research collaborations between scholars and students from both institutions. Through facilitating student and academic staff exchange programs, and promoting shared research activities and materials, the partnership seeks to nurture an academic environment conducive to groundbreaking discoveries and excellence. Moreover, jointly supervising PhD candidates ensures diverse perspectives and expertise, enhancing the quality of research outcomes and the educational journey.

In partnership with Gifu University, IIT Guwahati introduces the 'International Joint PhD Program,' lasting for a standard three-year duration. The program features collaborative course design by both universities, providing students with a comprehensive educational experience. During their dissertation work, scholars will receive collective guidance and mentorship from faculty members at both home and partner institutions. A multidisciplinary team of experts from both universities will evaluate research progress, ensuring strict academic standards and promoting innovative research outcomes.

A pact is established for a 2-year 'International Masters Joint Degree Program in Food Science and Technology' between the two institutes. This program is managed collaboratively by Gifu University and IIT Guwahati, streamlining coursework and dissertation evaluation for students. Moreover, the program stresses data sharing between institutions, aiming to nurture highly skilled professionals in food science and related fields. This initiative is positioned to tackle challenges in building a sustainable society by optimizing resource utilization, benefiting both regions.
