The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IITD) has announced the launch of its inaugural undergraduate (UG) programs at its Abu Dhabi campus, set to commence in the 2024-25 academic year. This expansion marks a significant milestone as IIT Delhi ventures into the international education landscape, offering two new UG courses designed to cater to the evolving demands of the global job market.

The initial intake for each of the two programs Computer Science and Engineering and Energy Engineering will be 30 students per course. Admissions will be based on two distinct pathways: the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced and the newly introduced Combined Admission Entrance Test (CAET). Up to 10 seats in each discipline will be reserved for students qualifying through JEE Advanced, while the remaining 20 seats will be allocated based on the CAET merit list.

The CAET, tailored specifically for the UAE, will be administered by the JEE Office at IIT Delhi. The test is scheduled for June 23, 2024, at multiple centers across the UAE, targeting UAE residents, including nationals, expatriates, and international students. Interested candidates can register for CAET through the portal admissions.abudhabi.iitd.ac.in/application/caet-2024 until June 10, 2024.

For students qualifying through JEE Advanced 2024, a separate application portal accessible from the IIT Delhi website will be available post the announcement of JEE Advanced results. The seat allocation process for the Abu Dhabi campus will be managed through this dedicated portal, independent of the JoSAA portal traditionally used for IIT admissions.

Financial incentives and support are significant highlights for JEE Advanced qualifiers. Such students will pay only the tuition fees applicable at the Delhi campus, with the remaining costs waived. Additionally, they will receive a monthly stipend of AED 2000. Accommodation in double occupancy hostels will be provided at no cost, with food available at subsidized rates. An annual travel allowance of AED 4000 and comprehensive medical insurance will further ensure student welfare.

The UG program in Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Delhi’s Abu Dhabi campus aims to furnish students with robust knowledge and skills essential for the digital era. The curriculum spans theoretical foundations, computer architecture, systems, software design, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. This comprehensive approach is designed to prepare graduates to meet the dynamic challenges and opportunities in technology and innovation.

Concurrently, the Energy Engineering program focuses on global energy challenges, emphasizing sustainable energy production, consumption, and policy. The multidisciplinary curriculum integrates engineering principles, environmental science, and policy-making, covering renewable energy sources, energy storage technologies, and sustainable energy systems. This program aims to equip students to contribute effectively to a greener and more sustainable future.

IIT Delhi’s strategic expansion into Abu Dhabi underscores its commitment to global education excellence, aiming to attract a diverse cohort of students and provide them with world-class educational opportunities. Through these initiatives, IIT Delhi strives to nurture future leaders and innovators who will address some of the world’s most pressing technological and environmental challenges.
