IIT Bombay ranks first in India in the QS Asia University Rankings 2024

IIT Bombay, the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, has recently been ranked first in India and 40th in all of Asia in the QS World University Rankings 2024. The British company QS released the results of the rankings. Among the 11 indicators, the staff with PhDs was the strongest one for IIT Bombay. In the latest edition of regional rankings, the Institute performed among the top 5 percent in the QS Asia University Rankings 2024. It is worth noting that the Institute also held the 40th rank in the previous year's rankings.

In the 16th edition of the QS World University Rankings: Asia 2024, 856 institutions are showcased from 25 countries and territories. India is now the most represented higher education system, with 148 featured universities (30 more than last year), followed by China with 133 and Japan with 96. "This year's ranking is the largest ever, featuring a record number of Asian universities. Not only does this reflect a flourishing and intensely competitive higher education ecosystem but facilitates evermore granular analysis of its institutions, allowing informed student selection and targeted improvements by the region's university leaders and policymakers," QS Vice President Ben Sowter said.

Peking University secured the top position with an overall score of 100 points, performing exceptionally well in indicators such as 'Academic reputation' (100), 'Employer reputation' (99.8), and 'Staff with PhD' (99.8). The University of Hong Kong, which jumped from fourth to second place this year, scored significantly well in the categories of 'International faculty' (100), 'Outbound exchange students' (100), and 'International students' (99.9).
