HRD Ministry identifies 75 National Resource centres (NRCs) for Higher Education faculty through SWAYAM

SI TeamMinistry of Human Resource Development introduced a unique initiative of online professional development of 1.5 million higher education faculty using MOOC’s platform SWAYAM. Seventy five National Resource Centres have been identified and they have been tasked to prepare online training material
with focus on latest developments in trends, discipline.

Several institutions such as centres under the Ministry’s Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT) located in Central Universities, IISc, IUCAA, IITs, IISERs, NITs and many more as NRCs. These will cover wide ranging disciplines of Social Sciences, Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Design & Manufacturing and much more.

Through this technology based online refresher course, service teachers will have an opportunity to keep updated of the latest developments. By June 15 each year, the NRCs will bring in the Refresher Module which will define the latest trends. Materials for training are available through the SWAYAM, and NRC will publish the list of faculty, who has been certified by 31st December, 2018. Faculties can benefit as it is highly flexible and it can be done at one’s pace and time. With the aim of revolutionizing professional development, NRCs will help catering to massive numbers of SWAYAM.
