Diageo India, known for its iconic alcoholic beverage brands under United Spirits, has inked a significant memorandum of understanding with the Skill Council for People with Disabilities (SCPwD). This collaboration aims to train 300 Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) through Diageo's 'Learning for Life' program, showcasing the company's commitment to fostering inclusion and diversity as outlined in its Society 2030: Spirit of Progress goals.

The training will be conducted at SCPwD-affiliated centers across India, facilitated by certified trainers and assessors. The initiative seeks to equip students with skills tailored for roles in the business and hospitality sectors, thereby bridging skill gaps and boosting productivity as they transition into the workforce.

Hina Nagarajan, Managing Director & CEO of Diageo India, expressed enthusiasm about the expanded partnership, emphasizing the mutual goal of cultivating a vibrant and diverse workforce. She highlighted last year's initiative, which integrated PwDs into the 'Learning for Life' program, and underscored the company's commitment to promoting sustainable growth by providing equitable access to resources and employment opportunities nationwide.

Ravindra Singh, CEO of SCPwD, lauded the success of last year's endeavor, where 100 PwDs were trained under Diageo India's program. He expressed eagerness to extend and enhance this specialized training, focusing on hospitality skills to bolster employment prospects for PwDs.

The forthcoming batches of trainees will encompass individuals with visual impairment, low vision, and speech and hearing impairments. To ensure inclusivity, the program features tailored learning modules and assisted technologies, including the provision of sign language instructors, facilitating effective learning and skill development.

This year marks a milestone as the first batch of 100 students prepares to graduate from Diageo India's 'Learning for Life' program, underscoring the program's impact and efficacy. With the expansion of the initiative and its focus on empowering PwDs, Diageo India continues to lead by example in championing diversity and fostering equal opportunities in the workforce.
