  • Schools must complete direct admissions and subject change requests for Classes 10 and 12 by August 31, 2025.
  • All cases must be compiled with documents and sent to Regional Offices by September 2, 2025, with approvals by September 15, 2025.
  • Four new Regional Offices and three Sub Regional Offices established, but 2025-26 cases will still go to parent Regional Offices.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has urged all affiliated schools to strictly follow the prescribed timelines for direct admissions in Classes 10 and 12, as well as for requests for subject changes. The board emphasized that adherence to the schedule is essential for the smooth functioning and timely execution of preparatory processes involved in conducting examinations.

According to the notice issued by CBSE, schools must ensure that all admissions and subject change requests are completed and forwarded within the specified timelines. This step is aimed at maintaining order and avoiding last-minute complications in examination preparations.

For direct admissions, schools must complete the process for Class 10 and 12 students by August 31, 2025. All admission cases must be compiled in a tabular form, separately for Class X and Class XII, supported with relevant documents, and submitted to the concerned Regional Offices by September 2, 2025. The last date for approvals by Regional Offices is September 15, 2025. In special cases, such as direct admissions after August 31 due to the transfer of a parent who is a government employee, the details should reach the Regional Office within two days of admission.

For subject change requests, schools must submit all requests for Classes 10 and 12 by August 31, 2025. These requests should also be compiled in a tabular format with supporting documents and sent to the Regional Offices by September 2, 2025. Regional Offices will give approvals by September 15, 2025.

The board has also announced the establishment of four new Regional Offices, which will start functioning from September 1, 2025. However, for the academic year 2025-26, direct admission and subject change cases will continue to be sent to the respective parent Regional Offices.

Additionally, CBSE has set up three Sub Regional Offices under the Guwahati Regional Office at Agartala, Itanagar, and Gangtok. All direct admission and subject change cases from these Sub Regional Offices for the current year will be processed by the Guwahati Regional Office.

CBSE reiterated that no school should entertain any direct admission or subject change requests after August 31, 2025. The board’s strict instructions are intended to ensure that all examination-related processes are completed in an organized and timely manner, benefiting both students and schools.
