Cambridge University and PIMS Launch Educational Exchange Program

The Cambridge University Medical Education Group (CUMEG) and the Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Jalandhar have introduced a groundbreaking educational collaboration program in the field of medical education. This initiative, the first of its kind in the region, aims to offer advanced education and clinical skills to medical students. Under this program, medical experts from CUMEG are scheduled to visit India, with a reciprocal visit from PIMS delegates to the UK in March 2024.
The program will concentrate on incorporating contemporary UK medical education practices and aiding the continuous advancement of PIMS medical educators in areas such as pedagogical frameworks, curriculum design and development, clinical communication and practical skills, clinical reasoning and decision-making skills, assessment methodology, quality assurance, and educational governance.
On this occasion, CUMEG head Cheryl France said that the initiative aligned with their mission to lead advancements in medical education and clinical skills globally. "The sharing of ideas and practices with PIMS will not only enrich our mutual understanding but also pave the way for novel approaches in medical education and patient care", she said.
PIMS executive director Dr. Kanwaljit Singh said that the programme would be a significant stride in their ongoing efforts to enhance medical education and practice. "Sharing knowledge and experiences with colleagues from Cambridge, we aim to foster an environment of innovation and excellence that will benefit the medical community", he said. On this occasion Baba Farid University of Health Sciences Dr Rajeev Sood was also present.
