Increasing demand of better healthcare needs has led to many technological innovations in the healthcare sector, so do in the healthcare training sector too. The outdated teaching strategies are being replaced with innovative and advanced teaching methodologies. Adhering to the same by creating and developing a culture of innovation through the concept of case-based learning and simulators training in a learner-friendly environment, Ganga Institute of Health Sciences (GIHS), moulds skilled and compassionate nursing professionals.

Situated in a serene campus with a spacious 54,000 sq.ft. area, the academic block encompasses about 25 classrooms, including 14 pre-clinical labs to ensure that students get a hands-on experience and training. Additionally, the students get ample opportunities to assist doctors in operation theatre at the parent hospital (650 bedded with more than 40 fully equipped operation theatres) during their student years itself. The college
also has student hostel with modernized hygienic kitchen, laundry facilities, indoor game facilities for recreation, and more on the same campus.

"Post successful course completion, we ensure placement at the parent hospital"

Realizing the growing importance of skilled & compassionate nursing staff for the effective functioning of a hospital, Dr. J.G. Shanmuganathan and Kanakavalli Shanmuganathan laid the foundation of the institution in 2006. Initially started as Ganga School of Nursing with a diploma course in nursing, today GIHS offers 10 main courses: Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery, B.Sc Nursing, P.B.BSc. Nursing, and M.Sc. Clinical Nutrition along with Allied Health Science Courses, namely B.Sc Operation Theatre and Anesthesia Technology, B.Sc Accident and Emergency Care Technology, B.Sc Physician Assistant, B.Sc Radiography & Imaging Technology, B.Sc Critical Care Technology, and B.Sc Medical Laboratory Technology. Ensuring Holistic Development
The andragogical approach in teaching methodology helps for

The faculty prepare Yukthi pyramid for each department which consist of a master plan of various teaching techniques like Journal Presentation, Instrumental Expo, Drug Expo, Conducting Mini Projects, Student Peer Tutoring, Mock Drills, Game-Based learning, showing live models of anatomical organs, and so on. Also various awards and badges like Best Clinical Presentator and Best Clinical Performer are given to students for encouraging their performance. This ISO 9001:2015 certified institution, affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR Medical University and Directorate of Medical Education, has 39 faculties, most of whom hold various positions in professional organizations.
