Seshadripuram Educational Trust: Transforming The Society By Democratizing The Invulnerable Asset Of Education
Education is an invulnerable wealth that holds the power to transform the life of an individual, and thus a family or even a society. As evidence, look no further than the mountains of transformation stories emerging out of Seshadripuram Educational Trust, which runs several institutions with the mission of offering quality education at affordable cost. A few that stands out are of an auto driver's daughter whose family's lifestyle went up a few notches through her placement at JP Morgan via campus recruitment and the story of an Alumni Scholarship recipient, who went on to join the Indian Army and sends money annually towards giving scholarship to a deserving student.
Commenced its journey in 1930 with the establishment of Stree Samaja, a Primary School for girls with 30 students, Seshadripuram Educational Trust has today expanded to eight Schools, eight PreUniversity Colleges, nine Degree Colleges, three PG Centres and one Research Centre. All of its institutions have excellent admissions and are run on full sanctioned strength. Renowned for providing excellent infrastructure for learning, research & application of knowledge, the trust has an enviable track record, wherein 102 out of the 900 students in the current UG batch have scored more than 90 percent in the qualifying examinations, not to mention its excellent placement records with highest CTC last year going up to Rs.4.5 LPA, thanks to its well organized placement process.
Nurturing Industry Ready Students
Beside an active Business Lab conducting continuous activities to expose students to industry requirements & practical application of knowledge, Seshadripuram Educational Trust also offers value addition training programmes in a sustained & structured manner across six semesters in communication skills, personality development and placement readiness training entirely free-of-cost through professional trainers. In fact, short term skill development courses in Tally, Photoshop, Digital Marketing and MS Excel are also offered free-of-cost, a side from numerous certified courses like Microsoft Office Specialist, Competitive Examinations, Stocks & Commodities Markets, SAP, Python and so forth. A strong proponent of technology, the trust encourages the usage of ICT by faculties, MOOCS courses and interaction with educationalists worldwide via Skype calls under the Microsoft Educator Programme.
Seshadripuram Educational Trust encourages sustainable accomplishments & promotes all forms of excellence among students & faculty with a structured system of rewards & recognition. Students have achieved recognition at the national & international levels in sports, cultural & academic activities as well. "We're carrying on a sustained attempt to mold students into socially responsible & productive citizens with active NSS, NCC, YRC, Rangers and Rovers units. We create a respect in students for the great architects of modern India Swami Vivekananda, Gandhiji and Dr. B R Ambedkar through active Study Centres,"adds N. R. Panditharadhya, President, Seshadripuram Educational Trust.
Strong Value System
The most striking aspect of its institutions is the social accreditation they enjoy the public perception that these institutions are functioning on the bedrock of a strong value system that is dovetailed with use of technology & the requirements of the present higher educational scenario. "We have systems in place (fee concessions and scholarships through alumni funds) to provide assistance to the genuinely needy students. In fact, our college offices ensure that students avail all scholarships for which they are eligible," remarks Dr. Wooday P Krishna, Honorary General Secretary, Seshadripuram Educational Trust.
Many of its students who pursue professional courses like CA, CS, ICWA struggle to balance theircollege academics and attendance requirements. For them, Seshadripuram Educational Trust provides a small support in attendance without compromising on university or college rules. Similarly, for students who are compelled to take on part time jobs to support their parents or to pay their fees, the institutions attempt to put them on to work which they can pursue after classes without disrupting their academics. As the trust's institutions in smaller towns like Mysuru & Tumakuru and suburbs like Kengeri & Yelahanka draw many students from rural areas, Seshadripuram Educational Trust provides bus services so that the students in remote areas benefit from the quality education imparted in the institutions.
The institutions have a healthy mix of experienced & young faculty, who are constantly nurtured via periodical Faculty Development Programmes on pedagogy & research, and Training Programmes & Workshops conducted by other institutions. They are encouraged to be innovative in their teaching methods. Not only can they avail leave without pay for one semester to complete their Ph.D. programme, but are given a special allowance for clearing NET/SLET and having an M.Phil. or Ph.D degree.
All Set to Uplift More Lives
Seshadripuram Educational Trust intends to keep capitalizing on its strength and introduce new courses within the discipline periodically. For instance, within a few years it has added M.Com (Financial Analysis) and M.Com (International Business) to its initial General M.Com programme. The trust has already got approval to commence with the prestigious B.Com (Honours) programme from next year and aims to periodically introduce the latest updated courses, so it can uplift the lives of more students.
