Imagine a world with countless medical practitioners, well trained and very skilled but the equipments they need to treat the patients such as the life support systems and the ECGs are all either outdated or ineffective. Today we cannot begin to picture how we are going to survive without the machines that aid the doctors with treatments. Desire for better performance, reliability and cost reduction is the order of the day and can be fulfilled by newer design concepts and techniques. Most of us are also unaware of the existence of professionals who design, develop and maintain the medical equipments better known as the biomedical engineers. Without these professionals, the world described above can very well become a reality. The role of biomedical engineers cannot be over looked; understanding the importance and need of biomedical engineers is Alpha College of Engineering (ACE) which is Alpha Educational Society. Alpha Group of Institutions, a premier Educational group in Chennai, has a
50-year old legacy and has created benchmarks by incorporating new initiatives in the field of education. The group promotes experiential learning through group discussions, case studies & research projects, innovative teaching methodologies and interactive instructional techniques are employed to cultivate higher order thinking in students.

The engineering college has been producing extremely skilled and talented biomedical engineers every year. Biomedical engineering seeks to close the gap between engineering and medicine. It combines design and problem solving skills of engineering with medical and biological sciences to advance health care treatment, including diagnosis, monitoring and therapy. ACE’s biomedical engineering department is renowned for the research conducted and stellar placement records.

Last year’s placement in the institution saw many students being hired by companies such as Cognizant, Infosys and Techno soft Global Services. It is not an isolated incident but a yearly trend in the institution which was established in 2006. Located in Thirumazhisai, Poonamallee, Chennai, the college is known for quality education and excellent placement record. Every year, a group of companies visit the
campus and select students according to their requirements.
Among the pool of companies, the major recruiters of the biomedical graduates are L & T HealthCare Systems, AGS Healthcare and Visionary RCM. The placement records reflect efforts made by the team of skilled people operating through the career development cell of the institution. Students are trained as per industry trends and the interview patterns, which include communication skills and personality development.

From soft skills to free training in JEEE, embedded and system software design, the institute does not leave any stone unturned when it comes to preparing students for the industry. Apart from the excellent placement record the establishment is known for the research work being conducted by the students and the faculty of the biomedical engineering department. The biomedical department has completed many funded projects and most of the accomplished and current projects are funded by TNSCST and ICTACT. Students from biomedical department have presented and published papers in more than 10 international conferences and regularly publish papers in many reputed national and international journals. The institute revels in creating confident and skilled professionals. With well designed curriculum, excellent placement record and research work, the institution has become one of the most preferred destinations for aspiring engineering candidates in Chennai.
