The industry is acomplex sector that consistently changes its nature and demands. To train students to maintain pace and the pace of change isa difficult challenge. Turning this challenge into opportunity,RNSIT has been very success fulin placing its students through the pre placement programmes of the training and placement cell that they started in 2002.With Dr. N P Kavya heading the cell, the progress in the placement activities are remarkably noticeable. “The success of the placement cell canbe measured by the fact that theinstitute maintains a 100 percent placement record. From the long list of companies that visit the institute every year, big names such as Wipro, Infosys, Toyota offer students packages up to 24lakhs per annum,” says Dr. H NShivashankar, Director, RNSIT.This year’s placement drive saw 120 companies visiting the campus and selecting students on the basis of their requirements.

For RNSIT to make changes in their curriculum is not very tough like other affiliated institutions because, the faculty in RNSIT are also the members of the VTU ‘board of studies,’VTU is the university the college is affiliated with. An advisory board comprising of the Director, Principal and the Dean of academics sit together and carefully take into consideration all the parameters that guide the institution and formula tea curriculum that has the right attributes, which meets the requirements of both the students and the industry. For the holistic development of the students the institution maintains MoUs with many industries. Examples of key MoUs are STUDSAT – with ISRO and VTU Institutions (for student satellite project), Aspiring Minds Student Evaluation System, IBM Academic Initiative, and Microsoft Developer Network Academic Alliance. All the training made possible through MoUs are very helpful for the overall development of the students.

“Engineering teachers at RNSIT use ITand digital media for pedagogical
purposes in teaching and learning in order to meet, coach and act as mentors and supervisors toour students,” says Dr. Shiva shankar. The determination of the faculty can be seen through the numerous publications they have made in reputed journals and the books they have published so far. The faculty play an active role in the students’ projects and publications and guide them through out the whole process every step of the way.
