Prof. Dr. Kamal Kant Dwivedi,Vice ChancellorThe concept of education as something that occurs in a school or classroom has changed significantly. Accordingly, educational institutions are also trying to serve basic curriculum in easy and interesting ways. Newer dimensions are introduced in motivating people to learn things outside of normal compulsory education.

The ITM University Gwalior was born out of an innate passion to develop unique scholastic ecosystem to celebrate dreams with a touch of difference. It is widely known as a multidisciplinary university famed for its quality education standards that transcend boundaries. Adhering true to its tagline `Celebrating Dreams', the university pays much focus in co-curricular and extracurricular activities apart from its regular classes. ITMU runs more than 100 degree programs in about 20 different specializations for subjects across engineering, management, architecture, art & design, pharmacy, agriculture, law mass communication and many more, recognized by different regulatory bodies like the UGC, ICAR, AICTE, CoA, INC, PCI, NCTE, and BCI and received NAAC accreditation. Established in 2011, the university has offered its utmost to stay unique and relevant to the young generation and helping them aim for heights.

While constantly experimenting over pedagogies, ITMU has always stood for experiential learning rather than rote education. According to Prof. Kamal Kant Dwivedi, Vice Chancellor of ITM University, imparting education without assessing students' effective learning outcome is meaningless. He is of the opinion that exams are not the exclusive tools for assessing learning outcomes. Therefore, ITMU has devised a pedagogy called Activity Based Continuous Assessment (ABCA), where the concerned faculty members apart from teaching the curriculum, also involve students with several hands-on activities viz. projects, research, seminar, reviews, cases study, presentation and others.

In order to foster the entrepreneurial skills in students, ITMU has created an innovation cell known as IdeaPad. Being ITM University's Business Incubator, IdeaPad has a large group of students in its reserve who have extraordinary ideas for new technologies leading to startups. The university facilitates them with appropriate infrastructure like computer, broadband connection, cafeteria and whatsoever required. The cell has helped in converting approximately two dozens of ideas to startups, and currently those companies register a turnover in crores.

"For our ABCA program and IdeaPad, the MHRD and UGC invited ITM University to share these best practices in a national conference of all the Vice-Chancellors/Directors of the educational institutions held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. There were only eight private universities out of 260+ universities invited to share their uniqueness," states Prof. Kamal.
Integrating a Unique Factor in every Aspect
The university periodically invites top thinkers and academicians from India and abroad to share their ideas and speak their minds. Such exclusive events are hosted through ITMU's flagship programs; viz. `Meeting of Minds' and `My India My Vision'. ITMU is therefore focusing on essential aforementioned programs that help shape the minds of students.

More so, ITMU gives a lot of emphasis on sports. The university has established a state-of-the-art sports complex in about 25 acres of land. The university cricket ground is approved by the BCCI for first class cricket and thus has hosted Vizzy Trophy cricket tournaments. ITM University is an All India Inter-University Champion in Women Hockey in Khelo India event, and also won national championships in men and women events in Floor Ball. Some of our students are National & International players and represented India in Rio Olympics in Women Hockey. Our players got silver medals in Youth Olympics Women Hockey and one player was selected to represent India in Fencing for the Summer World University Games in Italy in 2019.

ITM University Gwalior is the first University which is organizing a unique academic event entitled `Pre-Convocation Academic Conclave' preceding the main convocation since 2017. These conclaves have emerged as a powerful source of intellectual stimulation for students and teachers by motivational discourses given by a galaxy of intellectuals and highest order of achievers in diverse fields.

ITMU is buckled-up to further expand its course offerings across advanced engineering fields such as Robotics, AI, Automation, Data Analytics and many other similar fields. As the current crisis of Covid-19 has badly affected educational institutions, a large number of youth in the country are off the campus. ITM University, from the first day of nation-wide lockdown has dealt with the situation through online classes. The university has its in-house Learning Management System (LMS) which has the capacity to offer webinars, video lectures and conduct of proctored online examinations in both objective and descriptive modes.

It is significant to mention that huge MNCs are regularly visiting ITMU for placements of students. ITMU has provided over 70,000 opportunities to students through its Placement program. On an average, 82 percent of all eligible students have successfully found their career, and 94 percent of MBA students are placed in suitable jobs. The highest package received by our student was of Rs.29 lakhs.

The ITM University Gwalior in its day-to-day functioning reflects a deep-seated commitment towards social outreach. The university has active NSS and NCC wings for both boys and girls. Many nearby villages have been adopted to implement healthcare programs, awareness drives, farmers' training camps and melas. The university has established a 100 bedded hospital that extends free medical check-up and treatment to local population. We have also ad-opted a village school to create smart classrooms and computer labs for imparting quality education in rural setting.

To give impetus to current developmental policy initiatives at the national level, ITMU has geared to implementing several central government schemes and initiatives such as Skill India, Digital India, Jan Au-shadhi Yojna, Swachha Bharat Ab-hiyan, observance of International Yoga Day, and so on.

All Set for the Future Generation of Geniuses
ITM University is making students more sensitive and confident through its innovative programs, preparing them to adapt to the changing environments. It envisions making students future-ready with appropriate skills and knowledge. Towards that vision, the university is planning to create Centres of Excellence in different departments with a dense focus on research and innovation. In a true sense, ITM University stands as a blooming nursery of knowledge, where everyone is encouraged to pluck as many flowers as they wish in order to add beauty and fragrance of wisdom in their lives.

"A university operates in three dimensions; these are Teaching, Research, Social Service, i.e. giving back to the society. Our Founder Chancellor, Shri Rama Shankar Singh's vision is to make the university capable of truthfully serving the society, and rolling-out the responsible citizens out of the precincts of ITMU who are committed to serve the humankind and be sensitive towards environment," concluded Prof. Kamal.
