Anamika Sahu, Managing EditorFor long, India had been trailing in the Global Innovation Index (GII). But the good news is that now we have climbed four spots on the GII 2020 list and is at 48th position in the list of top 50 innovative countries in the World Intellectual Property Organization annual ranking. However, we have a long way to go if we want to be the world leader! In the recent times I had the opportunity to speak to several intellectuals
from various industries and academia. Though the industry has realized this requirement, but everybody echoed the need to create awareness about the importance of research and innovation and then filling patent.

Hence we need to create an ecosystem of innovation from the very grass root level. Government is doing its part and Atal Innovation Mission is one such body that is encouraging innovation right from the schools up to startups. This will surely provide the much needed boost to the innovation cox. Even schools and colleges have created campuses that is meant for research and innovation. From encouraging tech innovation to creating the next gen-entrepreneurs, campuses in India are the place where global students want to carve their future.

We bring to the story of 10 such campuses in India in our current edition of siliconindia Education Magazine's `10 Most Promising Campuses in India for Research & Innovation 2020'. It is a privilege to bring to you how these institutes are working towards making India the hotspot of Research & Innovation. Read to know more about them.
