Anamika Sahu,Managing EditorWe have gone all apps now – starting from banking, healthcare, automobile, smart homes to education. Apps are taking over the world like a storm. But let us scrutinize if we really need such apps in our life that now almost monitor our lifestyle (says control). Whether it is counting the number of steps walked each day or the need to deposit money into our or others account, book tickets, control electronic devices or automobiles, order food, or even get your automobile service booked, the numbers of apps in each category is increasing at a Tsunami rate. But the biggest change it is
brining is in the education segment where smart classrooms are now as necessary as smart teachers.

While talking to various education app developing organizations, I realized that many of the app creators have followed the need for years to comprehend the exact pain areas and re-crafted their solutions till they became the best fit in their respective categories. Some even started as a house-hold project for their own kids to learn fast and smart, which later went on to become one of the best education apps in its genres. Catering to kids of few months to college going teenagers, education apps have changed the dynamics of not just education but even the very basic of our kids’ infancy. But do these apps have all positive colours to it?

With both parents being working, they are left with no time to bear the tantrums of their kids and handle it playfully. Hence online channels like ChuChu TV, WowKidz, Kidzooly and others now play an integral part of our kids’ life. But several research have found that kids glued to such apps over mobile or desktop develop social inhibitions and are mostly cut-off from any relation building activities while their physical and mental health too takes a toll. Hence education app developers need to build their apps in such a fashion that infuses both physical and mental exercise while helping kids grow healthy, while parents need to find time out to work towards their kids’ holistic development.
